well actually the olive oil is about the 'least' greasy stuff i have found to use so far...i have gone thru baby oil (my mother and her mother used it for years and have very few wrinkles...i think it is way too greasy for my face-but to each their own...) i've used pure glycerin, (that was so heavy i felt like i was wearing a heavy mask all night) vaseline... (which is my 2nd choice and i used to rub it all over my face..... i still do put it under my eyes to 'lock' in the olive oil at night)... and the moisturizers that i use i put on so heavy and thick (coz i put it on over a soppy wet face)....so that's what i meant about always looking greasy...dh never knows what to expect with me.....

in reality the olive oil is not greasy at all...it appears to be 'gone' in a matter of minutes and you can then put your makeup over it....but for making your skin look fabulous its wonderful....

i gotta tell ya a little story though.... i live on a diet of fruits/veggies/soy and very, very little processed food..(a typical day for me is a fruit smoothie for b-fast w/ protein powder--lunch is an apple w/natural p.butter--dinner- salad with 20 different kinds of veggies in it...steamed veggies on the side with maybe grilled tofu) yes-it's a boring diet i suppose and some of you may be thinking not healthy...but the variety (or lack of) is not the point to this story....

so i am human..(shhh...don't tell anyone)....and this weekend i had mexican sat night (vegetarian fajitas)...last night i had chinese (garlic broccoli- but with my own brn rice from home) hey- i tried...lol...and this morning i wake up and i have blk eyes...i'm not kidding you....my face and eyes are so swollen from all the things my body is not used to eating (salt, additives, preservatives, who knows what)....that i literally have undereye circles that are puffy and black..dh says what happend to you ?..... and my face is swollen with a kinda 'ashen' color....(i actually look like i have the flu or something....weird).....i know its just a 'temporary' reaction to something different...but the point is.... the old adage...you are what you eat.... it is certainly true for me....most days when i am eating healthy and fresh i wake up looking like i have had a great restful nights sleep....not like this morning...i looked like i was a 'leftover' from halloween last week.....ugh......!!!!!!

Back with my update on the olive oil experiment.

I discontinued using it after a couple of weeks.
I found that the fine lines on my forehead began
to be MUCH more noticeable. Not sure how the
olive oil could do that, but now that I have stopped
using it, the lines are fine once again. I didn't
change anything else. Used the same soap for
cleansing, and used my regular mositurizer mixed
    with it for daytime.

    Enjoyed the experiment though!

I just had to update on this post. I have been using the olive oil on my face. I went to the health food store to get organic olive oil and found one for the body that has olive oil and vitamin E. They both are great so I got it. I LOVE IT!! I have been getting so many compliments on my skin. So, now I am going to try the sugar/olive oil in a jar combination.

when i saw my dermatologist last week (i get chemical peels about every 3-4 months)... i told her what i was doing and she said it was wonderful for the skin and her whole family uses it...(of course why didn't i hear that years ago when i was still buying 'products' from her....)...oh well....

anyway...she said it didn't matter whether it was virgin or x-tra virgin...(as long as it WAS virgin)....so i hope that helps....

The best face bash I ever used was dhc cleansing oil. Guess what is in it~ olive oil. Wish it wasn't so expensive!
The couple of years I was a theater make up major I paid attention. What the student actresses used to remove their makeup was vegetable shortening. Cheap, fragrance free, etc. I wouldn't use the stuff you cook with on a daily basis, but I've been known to put some in a small jar....

    IHTH!

I used to work in a tortilla factory and we used to take the vegetable shortening and put it in small bags for personal use. Everyone has soft young looking hands.

    Mauimagic,
I am loving it. This has been the best information for me. I just don't want to buy the Mary kay, etc products anymore. I was told today by a patient on chemotherapy that she uses extra virgin olive oil on her skin and apple cider vinegar. She has lovely skin!

My skin is dry and I use EVOO on my face a lot and it does suck it up.

I also like to use Kiss my Face olive oil soap. It's vegan.
