Default THE SMELL!!!! - at thrift store

Warning, am frank about things. Well, yesterday I went into my favorite thrift store. The first thing I noticed was the smell. It smelled really, really bad. I know that some smell is normal, but all I could think was get me out of here. I am never coming back.

So today on my walk I thought I would go in again just to see if it was an off day. Well the smell was a little better. It is really turning me off from shopping at a thift store the way I usually do. Anyone else notice this type of problem? If so has this stopped you from going to thrift stores?

I stopped going to thrift stores mainly because of the smell. They all seem to smell like dirty feet to me.

There are a couple here that smell horrible. I remember when I walked into a different store one day and I just kept thinking, something is different...then I realized it was the lack of funk.

There is one thrift store in particular that I stopped going to. It just plain smelled awful ALL the time!

Many thrift stores are in older buildings with poor ventilation and A/C, leaky roofs, mold and mildew problems, etc. Add the stuff that they get in and you have a recipe for bad smells.

I know the smell well. I was excited when a brand new thrift store opened up nearby. Two years later, it smells and they only turn on half the lights. If I have to squint to see what I'm trying to buy, forget it. It's so dreary in there, I can't stand it. It's too bad, it was so nice when it first opened.

I don't shop at the Goodwill here in town--not because of the smell, but because of the chronic masturbater who hangs out in there.

I've got low standards I guess. I just wash anything I buy in hot water when I get home. For what it's worth I also think our Walmart smells. I couldn't go there when I was pregnant because I would literally gag.

Thrift stores make me sick. I am allergic to dust and mold, if I go in a thrift store for more than 5 minutes I'm sick for the rest of the day.

Our local Goodwill stores are perhaps the cleanest and well lit stores we have. We do, however, have a home improvement store that smells like ass.

The one near me is awful, smells of unwashed laundry. Somehow the ones in the yuppie end of town are always cleaner. Some of them I think do wash things before they put them out to sell, but I can see how a lot would not want to bother.

Our local GW store is a large new building and is bright and clean and a nice place to shop. It's always packed full of people. I've gotten some good stuff there. The clothes there smell like they were just washed.

There is a thrift shop in town that benefit local pet shelters, which is a great cause. The last time I went in there it smelled like cigarette smoke and other funky smells. I just can't go back there, even though I'd like to support the pet shelters.

Yup, my thrift store smells too...mainly of dirty, old, musty, and stale cigarette smoke off of items smokers have brought in. But mine isn't so bad that I wouldn't shop there, any clothing that I buy I always wash in hot water first, and then it smells fine.

Our stinks of highly scented laundry detergent. I guess they wash everything but it is so perfumy in their it is nauseating.
