just a thought about this 'health-insurance debate'.....
dh and i were talking last night after listening for the ump-teenth time from the media how many rep/dems were for/against...and all the politicians throwing in their two cents worth on this and that...but noone (meaning media or politician) has taken the time to sit and tell 'us' what this is all about...just whether they 'like' it or not...(x's a thousand times we have to hear it).....
why can't instead of listening to them 'rattle' on about their 'likes' and 'dislikes' (whatever they are-because around here...we aren't even clear on that one either) that the time is spent in more productive ways and someone step up to the plate and try to 'decipher' the thousands of pages....one page at a time.....to us, the american people....we get that they have their opinions....(they are repeately telling us).... tell us why....tell us what it comes down to...what it means to us...how it truly affects us....not the rumors...read us the facts....read us the bill....explain it to us in 'lay-man' terms.....no lawyer-speak....
dh says that is our responsibility and that i should go to the webpage and read it myself...as should the rest of you....i disagree... i believe if the media has all this time to keep talking about it without saying anything.... then there is time for someone more knowledgeable to read and explain it to us...i can go to the site and read the bill...but will i have any better understanding....i seriously doubt it.....it's not lazyness that is preventing me from doing it....
but like everything else...our gov't will probably pass this bill...(in our BEST interest of course)...and we won't have a clue as to what one word says let alone means.....

The only trouble with them explaining it is they might not tell the whole truth. You know; tell us the good parts and leave out the parts that aren't so good. I understand what you mean about reading pages and pages and not understanding, but are we going to get the whole truth.

I agree....
I had a friend post on face book last night about it passing and how bad it would hurt us as individuals;
which made me look to see how big the bill was, and it is huge, in words.............
I keep hearing where did the public option go?
so, if no public (I assume that means the uninsured) option, what sense does it make...............and who will it actually help?

Excellent argument....case in point:
we just had a referendum last week on doing improvements to the local high school up for vote....they 'advertised' the project as costing us only .59 per $100 of accessed value...then they went on to give a 'scenario' in the paper....'a home accessed at $100,000 would only cost the homeowner an additional $193 a yr in increased property taxes at most'....... well...when i went to school .59 per $100 does not equal $193...it figures out to be $590.... oops....!!!!!!! (but unfortunately no-one caught the 'scenario' LIE....coz the referendum was passed...and now...that the true figures are being 'discovered'..... there are alot of very, very unhappy people around here......i guess we are ultimately the ones to blame for not 'catching' the MISTAKE (and i take that word very sarcastically)....but ...damage is done now......even when i spoke to the treasurers office the day after this vote was approved (i thought that maybe somehow 'i' was losing my addition skills, being so old and all)....the clerk told me she felt there was alot 'kept in the dark' as they (there at the office) really didn't know what was going on either.....
so you are probably right...the corruption and lies at every level are never gonna stop.....we are the sheep.... just shut-up and blindly follow.......

Exactly ! We are "too stupid" to explain to ! I'm fed up with the whole bunch. The polls show we aren't supporting any of it and yet the congress is doing whatever they want---2010 may find a bunch of them looking for work like the rest of us !

Who would you trust to give you an assessment of what the bill says and means?
Anyone who tried would inevitably be yelled down by both sides for not reading it with the right spin.

Sabrelvssammy; Same thing happened to us with car ins. We were lied to and voted for no fault. Now when they try to get rid of it the big ins companies with all their money take out ads with more lies so people are afraid to vote against it.

Polls are funny things. If you ask Americans if they are in favor of health reform, they say yes. If you ask them if they are in favor of the currently proposed health reform, they say no. If you ask them piece by piece if they are in favor of each major part of the currently proposed reform and tell them that it's part of the current proposal, they say no. If you ask them piece by piece of each major part but *don't* mention that it's part of the current proposal, they'll generally say 'yes.'
You can get a poll to say pretty much anything you want it to say. It's all about how you ask the question.

My problem with this one: He said he thought the publics problem with it is free health care for the illegals. He said there are 12 million in this country. He said he could solve that problem and plainly said he wanted to make them legal so they would qualify for healthcare. Then there wouldn't be a free for illegal problem. This was out of his own mouth.
No, but they would all get assistance at our expense, NOT the governments ( I mean, where does the government get their money ) while I continue to pay $815 a month for our and then help pay for theirs.Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

Our news paper had a huge article about it. It broke down how it would affect those in certain income brackets. Those who had union or "cadillac" health plans etc. It pretty much made me 100% disgusted! In my opinion it would put my household in a worse position. As far as who is paying for it.................... US!

Those who can't afford it would get assistance....that's 12 million right off the bat cause they are already getting the assistance and working under the table.
So we pay for all of it. GOVERNMENT DOES NOTBank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

Two reasons,
1)no one in our drive-through, microwave society has 'time' to read it. That includes the people whose job it is!
2)Everyone will put their own spin on it but the law of unintended consequences says something totally unforseen will probably happen. I am very, very worried as all the programs they keep touting as wonderful (medicare for example) are not exactly helping hospitals, keeping costs down or performing free of fraud in a timely, non-bureaucratic manner.Mom to Emma, Spencer, Connor, Lily,Fletcher, Amelia and Adeline.

yes Niko those of us that pay taxes will pay for it 100% in one form or the other. My boss is horrified because of what it may do to small business.
