Default My husband who doesn't grocery shop

Thinks I spend too much on groceries...

    Wait fot it....

50 dollars a week! For 2 adults and a child... I use it solely for dinners AND house supplies if I have to. Forget about lunch or breakfast!(my son's breakfast and lunch are prepayed for at school. I eat leftovers (which is fine), but he doesn't have a clue! He gets on my last nerve! It's not like I am gambling our money, or shopping for clothes! I could tear his little head off! What a turd!!!

I make almost everything from scratch and I make the same stuff alot.
    ***Rant over***

So am I spending too much money a week? Frankly I don't know what else I could cut!

Tell him if he thinks you spend too much, he should come with you to the store this week and figure out where to make cuts, and if he can't, STFU.

PS Tell him I told him put up or shut up too.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I don't know how you are managing on $50 a week!!! You deserve a medal. Maybe you could let dh shop on $50 /week for a couple of weeks and let him see..... Just be sure you have your stockpile in case he doesnt shop well.

You could show him your menu and store receipts.... I did this w/my hubby for awhile.

Sit down w/him , your menu and the shopping ads.

You really are doing great, it's too bad he can't see it.

I bet if you sent him to the store with $50 for a week's worth of groceries he would come back with a few snacks. THEN I would make him eat JUST whatever he bought for the next week.

    Oh yeah, what Greebo said!

I think a trip to the grocery store for your DH is in order. It would probably be a real eye-opener for him!! You are doing a GREAT job.

You can also show him all the threads here on how much people spend at the grocery store.

It sounds like you are doing a great job. Yea, a trip to the grocery store to see non sale prices can be an eye opener.

Um.... I have 100.00 a week and that's hard to do sometimes.
If your husband thinks your spending too much on food I would hate to think what he thinks is reasonable.

It's time for him to do some shopping.

You can offer to let him take over the shopping and the cooking. That ends so many disagreements over here.

We sometimes for our date night go grocery shopping and even my DH noticed the rising prices. I say take him shopping just once and it will stop all the complaining.

hand the job over to him since he thinks he can do better. BEt that would shut him up. Has he seen reciepts? HAs he eaten the benefit of your shopping? I'd get his butt in the store to do it cheaper himself...knowing full well, he can't. Is he comparing to someone else? if so send him shopping with them!

Every so often I will send my DH to the store with a simple grocery list. He will come home with a glazed look on his face.
