The alternative school is the path for nearly 30 years, moved last June from Ste-Thérèse Boisbriand.

In a spirit of openness to innovation and inspired more common in education, public alternative school's mission is to offer the young an environment adapted to their needs and interests. An educational team comprised of students, parents, staff and faculty, accompanying for Global Development, in defining its identity through the choice of their own learning goals to enable him to succeed his life and contribute to the wider community through social engagement and participation in community life.

Parents, children and staff had built the old way with an arboretum and a large green area with trees, flowers and grass.

Since last June, the school moved to larger premises in Boisbriand.

Unfortunately, the course could be moved, but immediately a committee of management of the court was constituted and we have already done some projects involving the whole school community. It is important to note that the surrounding community benefits from these projects (cleaning the yard, installing a new module to play ...) because this court is a court open to all outside school hours.

In collaboration with children, we have compiled a list of work we want to achieve and we are currently seeking funding.

Here is a list of jobs that we want to achieve their results and our environment:

Manufacture and installation of 3 compost bins

o Decrease the volume of waste in bins and composting organic material in order to achieve our garden project.

    Creation of an arboretum

o In order to beautify our environment and awareness of children and parents about the need to plant trees and shrubs in our environment.

Creating a garden of medicinal plants

o Introduce children to know medicinal plants and use them to better health.

    Making a Weather Station

o Educate children to the extent of climate change

Making a recovery system of rainwater

o Decrease the use of city water for all projects that do not require chlorinated water. By this action, we want to educate children and parents to adopt this kind of achievement at home.

    Decrease of the asphalt surface

o One of the causes of global warming is the increase in asphalt and concrete surfaces. Solar radiation is not directly reflect the surface and warms the surrounding air. The lawns and trees planted to absorb sunlight and rainwater. We therefore want to reduce the asphalt surface of 30%. Children will take temperature measurements during this year and will be able to compare where this project will be realized.

It should be noted that the realization of these projects will be mainly done by parents and students, in a spirit of community and ecology. All our projects are made using only environmentally friendly products and minimizing or eliminating the use of tools pollutants.

The completion of these projects has several goals:

The involvement of everyone to improve and protect the environment and reduction of causes of global warming.

Awareness among children that we have done these projects they can implement them at home and thus, the actions carried out in school or generating projects at home and increase the impact on our environment and our climate.

Sharing facilities with the surrounding community. Adding a new module game has increased attendance neighborhood children outside school hours. We are confident that the completion of our project will bring an increased attendance of the new park.

Ooooh. I thought you had to be in Canada to vote. A little late on this but I did it.
