    Default Introduction - long! Sorry!

    Hello everyone: *waves*

My name is Danielle, but I go by Diyou online, so I chose that as my UserName. I came by Diyou when the little one I used to babysit couldn't pronounce Danielle, but came up with Diyou somehow. It stuck, so that's what I go by! I'm a 28 year old Youth Librarian living in New England. I currently live with my boyfriend of 3.5 years and our three cats (also some fish, but I don't like them, so they don't count) and no kids. We are renting a mobile home after two dismal apartments (e-coli and mold- not fun). I love to read, and frequently have two or more books going at a time. I also knit, though not very well, and I get frustrated easily. My favorite thing (other than reading) though is computer games and facebook. I play the Sims 3 and read almost every day. It would be better if I had a better/newer computer, but since my computer is only two and a half years old, I can't justify a newer one. And we can't afford to upgrade. So I deal. I am also addicted to facebook and update often.
I discovered Frugal Living over the summer when I was looking for some Green Cleaners for a program I ran for teens. I signed up and then haven't had time to do anything about it with one thing and another.
I am upping my priorities now and posting because things are difficult for us financially. My boyfriend has been unemployed for a year now and is only finding temp jobs so far. These really don't help with the regular bills much, and my small paycheck barely covers rent. There have been a couple of times when we've been forced to pay rent late because we have to wait for my paycheck to clear. It is also becomming a very real strain on our relationship and we're arguing a lot more. I'm also starting to resent him for having to pay all the bills and him not working. Which I know isn't fair since he's looking for work, but it's how it is. I'm hoping that I will find some tips and tricks that we don't already emply that can help us out with our situations. I am also looking forward to the kitchen section- I love to cook, and I'm big on freezing things for meals. I make my own stock, and have explored canning. (I made strawberry preserves this summer!). We don't go out- ever, and don't splurge on anything. Our biggest splurge is senior cat food for my kitty (18 years old).
Well, that was certainly a long introduction. Sorry for being long winded!

Would it help to ask your landlord if you could pay twice a month, half the amounts? That might help take some strain of each pay check. If you ask, the worst they can say is no.

Welcome to FV, I know you'll find a lot of help and ideas here.

Welcome from Indiana (home of the UNBEATEN Colts )

You'll find a lot of help and support here - but be warned, we'll sometimes be brutally honest with you. The reason is that someone has been brutally honest with US and it's helped!!
