Anyone else have this problem with their computer?
My MIL can use her computer during the day with no problems. But if she uses it after dark with the dining room light on she get sick to her stomach. This is the only time she has problems.

The refresh rate on her monitor is probably causing it to flicker at a rate that bothers her. It's more noticeable in the dimmer artificial light. She may be able to adjust it: http://www.quickonlinetips.com/archi...and-headaches/
Or get a better quality monitor with a higher refresh rate.Use it up, Wear it out,
Make it do, Or do without. ~unknown

Second what Contrary Housewife says. Another option is for her to have better lighting.
But a better monitor would probably help. She might also want to think about getting a tv that she could hook up to the computer. Will probably depend on how old her computer is.

I agree about the flicker. That can make me ill at night. There is something about the daylight that keeps it from being as bad.

Only other thing I can think of is if she has flourescent lighting. When I was working, the flourescent shine on the screen would make me sick after looking at it for so long. Personel finally let me have a screen to put over the screen ( like sunglasses ). That solved the problem for me. I've never noticed a flicker like the other posters. Probably just me.

Ok.. I'll be the alarmist of the group..
It's 90% likely that it's the refresh rate of the screen combined with something about the dimmer light.
That's a cheap fix.. get a true daylight bulb for a desk lamp. That usually solves the problem.
Unless you're my friend Matt.. for whom this was the first symptom of mild epilepsy. If the monitor/lighting fix doesn't work.. she might want to see a doctor.

She might want to try dimming her screen at night. I vaguely remember the software programmers talking about this, something about headaches. Many would work in the dark.
