I wanted to be an artist and live in Paris in a garret . I have dabbled in art and forms all my life and worked at places like Michaels and Ben Franklin and Garden Ridge (now closed) In fact, I was manager of a custom framing store and framed other peoples' art !!

I wanted to be a teacher. I did. Didn't like it at all. I didn't like it for middle school, I didn't like it for college, I didn't like it for more free-floating adult education. So I've done lots of other things, all of them better - for me. But I truly admire those who happily teach at any level.

Edited - I forgot to add what I became. Well, I was an administrator of a daycare center (not really close since I wasn't with the children), an administrator of a residental care facility for mentally disabled children (ditto), office manager for an opera company (not close except for the occasional singer who acted like a terrible two), and now I work in a library.

I wanted to be an astronaut. That basically went out the window when I was on a small roller coaster. Couldn't wait for the ride to end. But I did help out on projects that went into space.

Wanted to be able to paint like the paintings I saw in museums. I am painting.

Wanted to work with computers. My grade school teacher talked about how some day people would be learning on something that looked like a tv. The light went off in my head. Have worked on projects that are computer-based.

The one thing I remember I wanted to do was take care of baby animals in zoos. This hasn't happened.

That is about it. Funny how when you are a child there are many different things you might want to do. The one thing I do know is that I really did not have one specific thing that I wanted to do. Many people I know have said they always knew they wanted to be a teacher, engineer, actor, etc.

So in someways I think I have come close. I can't wait to see what you wanted to be.

I wanted to be a piano teacher, and that's what I became. I've loved it at times, not so much at others. Right now, I love it.

I wanted to be an archaeologist, and I was going to discover new pyramids in Egypt! Didn't get anywhere close, but all things history still fascinate me, and I am an amateur geneologist!

I wanted to be a teacher. Then I had my first internship class. That is when I realized I loved my own kids and could handle anything as far as they were concerned, but really had no patience with other people's kids.

I immediately changed my major and never looked back.

I am now, and forever will be, a SAHM.
