Just not my day!!!! Big whine!
Ok I'm convinced this day will get better!!!!
1st woke up with a killer headache (still have it!)
Last night DS hit a deer. Poor kids was really shook up but fine. Car not. We have a $500 deductible so there goes $500 and I had to cancel my appts. 30 miles away today. I cant get back into the dentist to get my teeth cleaned until mid Feb.
I ran right up to the body shop this morning for estimates. The insurance companies adjuster just called me saying he saw I wanted to use that shop. Had I been up there? YES. The body shop said they didn't have the estimate. I told him yep the owner did it.
Did they take pictures he asks. No. So I need to run back up there one my youngest gets off the bus.
Our discover card numbers were stolen a few weeks back. Discover took care of it. I got a huge bill for Verison today. I live in WI. Someone had taken out several phones in KY in my name and with my WI address. I spent forever on the phone with verison and it is supposedly fixed.
Since my info was stolen we put a 90 day fraud alert on my credit info after I was told by Discover it was a good idea. I got letters from the credit bureau saying it was done and to please go to their sites to get a free credit report.
I go to get the credit reports. You know how they ask you security questions like your mortgage holder, loan amount, year of mortgage etc? Anyways not one answer on any were anything I even recognized . All three bureaus said something to the effect of "for your own security your account is frozen (or whatever) and to call a number to get my report. On one of the credit bueaus phone systems It said " since you recently requested a copy of your credit report we can not send one out at this time. I NEVER REQUEST IT!!!!
I'm freaking out a bit here!!!! When we were going to refi last fall I the bank gave us a copy of our credit report. The banker even complimented us on that being one of the best scores he has seen. This is looking kind of fishy and I am scared to death more than just our discover card info was stolen and a big verison account opened in my name and address!~July 19 saving goal for event $104/$1000

Oh Good Grief.. I am soo sorry.
Sounds like your identity has been "compromised"..
Call the police and file a case, get and keep the case number.
Hubby had this happen a few years ago. We found out when they pulled him over for a traffic stop.. and arrested him for outstanding warrants in TEXAS.
He's never even been to TEXAS!! Which fortunately we were able to prove because we had pay stubs going back for years.

Wow, nodmicks, I'm sorry to hear that. Definitely file a report and let your bank know, too. I lost one of my cards and reported it, and got a replacement. For about a month, every time I tried to use it, it got declined, because the bank was stopping ALL transactions. It just required a phone call (each time), which was a pain, but less of a pain than finding my account drained!!
My friend's daughter was arrested for an outstanding marijuana possession warrant after her Calif DL was stolen and the woman used her info the first time she was arrested. My friend's daughter was stopped for speeding and they handcuffed her and took her to jail!!DH aka Mad Hen

Oh man - sounds ROTTEN. I am so sorry you are having such a rough go. You have to get on top of this right away (which I am sure you already are).
I don`t know if you can do this in the states but here is a little anecdote about something similar. After the divorce my lovely, charming X kept applying for credit in both of our names (and got it) He acted as though we were still married. Now despitea bankruptcy ( my only financial issue, one of several for him) he managed to get some cell phone accounts, utilities, and furniture. It had my name on as well as his and I had a hell of a fight to get my name off of that stuff. One company still calls and harasses me about the cell phone. On the advice of my attorney, I was able to get the credit bureau to flag both of our social insurance numbers with a statement that I was NOT responsible for any bills with his name on them. After that he was no longer able to finagle any credit with my name.
Anyhow, to cut to the chase: Can the bureaus down there do anything to flag your information?

Thanks everyone. I'm not panicking so much today. I think it really helps to not have a darn migraine. We have done everything we can do so far at this point. All credit in my name is frozen, everything is filed. Now to wait for the credit reports.
I am 90% sure where the info was stolen from but cant prove it. When we were at the resort in WI Dells in Oct I had to fill out enough forms and personal info to rent the condo it was crazy. They put a 3000 hold (for any damages) on my discover card plus the price for the condo. That is the only time that card has left my hand. Everywhere else it was ever used I scanned it. I have never used it online ever. I notified the resort and they said they would look into it. I'm not holding my breath.
I am really considering paying for credit monitoring service.~July 19 saving goal for event $104/$1000

Mick ~ when was the last time you gave out your SS #? Think really hard on this one. I NEVER give out this number unless absolutely a necessity. I just leave that space blank on everything that asks for it, such as at a doctors office. Have you or your children been to a new doctor or a hospital recently? They always ask for your SS # and I know someone whose identity was stolen in this way. Seems to me, since your SS # is known by the identity thief, start with that, and see where it takes you. Good luck & hope things get worked out quickly!

Thanks!
We actually do have a new Dr's office but I didn't give our SSN's. The last time I gave it was to the credit union when we were going to refi. The time before that was last fall for dh's healthy ins.
The only time my CC has left my hand was at the resort. They also had my DL number. No SSN. I can't think of anywhere that had all 3 items. I'll keep thinking though.
We did have workman in the house without our presence this summer but my cc's were hidden. However there are statements in my filing cabinet as well as tax documents etc.~July 19 saving goal for event $104/$1000

The social security number is the one that would have me stumped. Wonder if that is something that you should be checking on also. Social Securtiy account.
You are having one bad month. So very sorry..know it is stressfull.Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.
