i had an early doctor's appointment yesterday...
and was finished by 9:30. i said "well, since I'm over on this side of town, I think i will take a walk around the Galleria" a houston lah-dee-dah shopping mall. i was dressed like an absolute slob.
of course, I began at Tiffany's. I love the tiffany solitaire. i would die for one of the schlumberger 1950's style pieces of jools. I don't waste the sales people time becuase i cannot buy anything there.
then i meandered over to neiman marcus (needless markup). i looked at 500 dollar shoes (prada, etc.) and thought yeah, i could buy (in my dreams- sarcasm) these nice shoes but once you wore them they would be ruined. way too practical to pay 500 bucks for shoes.
there was a very nice sales lady over in the estate jewelery section. she was bored and actually offered to let me, in my walmart clothing, try on a 10 carat estate diamond ring. such beauty. I asked the lady - are there really people who spend money on this? she said yes. the ring was 150,000 dollars, more than my house and net worth. (the lady did notice that i was wearing mikimoto AAA studs. she took one look and said - those are mikimoto- good ones. this lady knew her pearls. very few people know pearls. very commendable. maybe that is why she bothered waiting on me?)
a ring worth more than my house. yikes.
an interesting morning. i do like pawn shops better. secondhand is always cheaper.11% gross to retirement

i love fine jools. i find them "used" at pawn shops and ebay.
the mikimoto AAA studs are a recent acquisition. i had been wanting this particular pair for a long time but not being able to afford them for any reason in the "post divorce budgetary crisis". now that I have stabilized, when i discovered bailey banks and biddle are going out of business, i hightailed it over to BBB and got 'em for half price.
