Hit the motherlode today!!!
Our public library culls books off the shelves and either gives them away or sells them for a quarter or dime each. I could not believe my eyes today when I went in. Dictionaries all over the freebie cart and cheap cart!!! See, I collect dictionaries, and this was CANDY!!!!
Folks, I got the Oxford English Dictionary (yep, the one that is like 5 inches thick) for 25c!!!!! I came away with a huge haul: total cost was one buck. There's several Oxford dictionaries, a dictionary of film, one of religious terms, one of culinary terms, a dictionary of terms used in fables and legends, music dictionaries..... Oh my...... I am dancing!!! Can't wait to start reading!Spiritual:

Wow! All that for a dollar! I'm insanely jealous right now. I've never gone to the library sale, I guess I should check it out next time.
Oxford is my favourite, my mom was going to get me a new one for Christmas, but I don't know if she'll remember. This is the 20 year anniversary of my first big girl dictionary.

DH works for a book distribution company - one day he came home with The Baseball Encyclopedia (about a $125 book) for $1 at the company sale. Score!! (I am a baseball statistics geek, and read that thing like it's a novel!)

MaryCarney, get this: They had that Baseball Encyclopedia there too! And it was a quarter. How funny that you should mention it. I didn't get it, as I wasn't too interested.
On a side note, the grands stayed with us last weekend, and the 9 year old was browsing my dictionaries. I told her that I got my first dictionary when I was about 10, and showed it to her. She was impressed. So one of the dictionaries today will be a Christmas gift for her. It's a child's Webster, from about the 1950's or 60's.Spiritual:

When I was a kid I used to read the dictionary, encyclopedias and national Geo all the time. Great haul.
I used to go to all the library sales in the area. I had them mapped out on my calendar. they actually used to look for me!!
We decided not to keep books anymore (drastically tough decision) for the clutter factor. I miss shopping at them.
My greatest find was this spring. 2 generations lived their whole life in 1 house and had cookbooks for about 50 years. I collect so I bought about 2 storage tubs worth.
