Red face how many gifts for your kids?

just wondering how many gifts will you be giving your kids this christmas?
I think I will do 3 this year. One from me and 2 from santa.
The kids have so much and they really dont appreciate it like when we were kids.

I love the 3 gift per kid idea. I don't have kids yet but in the past i have given 3 gifts per person this year due to finances i cut it back to 2.

Mine actually REQUESTED this year "Momma, I have so much... maybe just get me 2 or 3 things"

She's 9 and I am SO proud of her.

I know I have more than 3 things, as I made things and bought a few 'special items'. I may just put the made things in one package or something.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

We do a budgeted amount, not a number of gifts.

We do a certain amount too, not how many gifts. I think it will be around $25 a piece. They are 15 and 20, I would hope we've instilled in them that the Christmas season is not about the gifts. But.....

I've been done with my kid shopping for awhile. I don't look for a specific number of gifts or a specific dollar amount. I just pick up things here and there as I find good deals and stash them away. I don't really make it even, but I also don't let there be a huge discrepancy either.

For example, I have quite a few books for dd, so it looks like more, but the boys each have a cool truck that they wanted. They'll get just as much use out of the one truck as she will out of the many books. There are some other things I've gotten them, as well, but again, it's based on what they are interested in playing with or using.

I really always try to get it all done by the end of October so our December bills don't break the bank.

We generally get them one present and Santa brings a present (Santa also leaves three things in their stocking - a candy bar, a toothbrush, and a small trinket)

With clearance deals, I can spread a dollar pretty far. I try to buy stuff a year ahead at the 75% after-Christmas Target toy clearance. Also buy deals throughout the year as I see them and store them in gift tubs in the basement.

Growing up (poorer than poor) it was 1 book, 1 piece of clothing, 1 toy for each. It works well, because the grandparent, etc would get some fillers.

That being said, I too shop all year round and put it away. I found this way was easier on the budget. My grown kids still enjoy the stockings filled with those little things. I can't get away with not filling those ol stockings!! LOL

I have to confess, I tend to go overboard but generally it is more needs than wants - clothing, undies, jammies, sheets.

My oldest is transferring to Catholic school after Christmas so she is getting uniforms.

My youngest has outgrown her workout stuff for gymnastics so she is getting those.

They will also get one or two things that are wants. Little one wants a "Liv Doll" (about $20) and Big girl wants books - so an Amazon gift card.
