Default Making the best use of this looong weekend!

    What's everyone doing this weekend?

I don't participate in the Black Friday madness. First, I don't have the money to do so, even at the big discounts they offer, and second, I HATE the crowds.

So we choose to spend Black Friday at home, decorating our tree, putting up our Christmas decor, and maybe doing a little holiday baking with what ingredients we have on hand. It's traditionally a family day.

Having picked up some markdown bananas at the store the other day, I think I'll make banana bread and pop some in the freezer for later. I also have the ingredients to make no-bake cookies, so I think we'll make those, and for the carry-in dinner at church on Sunday, I think I'll make another caramel apple cake.

Part of the weekend will be spent listing items on Ebay, in an attempt to get EVERYTHING in my inventory listed this weekend.

We will also be filling out online applications from home for DD21, in hopes of finding her at least a part time job until the baby comes. She is also signed up for orientation for free CNA classes through a local agency next month, so things are rolling right along!

Also will be making sure DS18 is up to speed on his homework, and working with him on some software to get his reading comprehension level up higher. He has some learning disabilities that make reading difficult for him, so we've been working on that.

So aside from some housework, that's our weekend! How about you? What are your plans for the long weekend?

Sounds like a good weekend pan to me SBH!! I am going to be doing the same as you tomorrow and for the same reasons!! Poor DH has to work tomorrow, so he will be battling the traffic!!

I have an online class that I need to finish by Monday - so have lots to do there.

    Also need to......

Make copies of your Christmas letter
    Write and address 80 cards
Make some after surgery tops and dresses that can be just pulled up
Wrap and send my Christmas exchange presents
Wrap the stocking stuffers for 8 stockings

Those are the major things for my weekend and I know that they will keep me plenty busy. However, if I have the time, I want to......

    finish DD's crocheted slipper boots
sew borders on 25 flour sack towels

    Have a great weekend all!!

We're in Pittsburgh visiting ceashel's in-laws. Friday evening I'm getting together with some old friends - one not seen in 10 years, one not seen in 17. LOTS of catching up to do!

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I am trying to stay away from the stores if at all possible.

I do plan on checking out a small local flea market tomorrow morning, weather permitting.

Trying to get some more knitted hats done. I may have to use a few for Xmas presents again this year.

I'm so tempted to go to the store tomorrow morning. I was even just checking out the ads but came to the village to stop myself. We really don't NEED anything, I'd LIKE a new comforter for the bed but the one that we have isn't really old just... not new anymore. I think I'll finally get the garage and closets at least semi cleaned out. I know there are tons of things in there that I can use or can give away to someone who can use them.

I'm also going to make a grocery list and then go to the store because since I'm in town this week, I'll be able to make dinner for DH and would like to stick to a preset meal rather than just buying things to day of. The rest of the weekend... I have no idea!

I'm going to get DH to finish grouting the tile in the eat-in end of the kitchen, put the baseboards back on and seal the floor. The that half of the project will be DONE.

And then I can move the highboy back into the corner, and set up the tree on top of it. It's in the LR right now and the cat thinks it is her personal penthouse for evening entertaining, and there is no freaking way I am putting the tree up there while she can reach it.

Then I have some modeling projects to finish painting. I promised myself I would get them done by the end of the month.

Friday afternoon and evening, I will be at Mom's going
through more bins and boxes for things she wants to
    sell at auction.

Saturday, my Grandson is coming, and we will probably
    go play racquetball.

Sunday I will be back at Mom's doing the same thing.
I've been doing this for many weeks, but Mom is 83
and has lived in that house for almost 40 years.

You know, I have NEVER had a Monday through Friday, weekends-and-holidays-off type job. I am spending the weekend working nights then turnaround to day shift. Kinda sucks sometimes, but people get sick and injured at the most inopportune times!! I think I would find a 'normal' job terribly confining.

Thursday we spent doing our Thanksgiving rounds.

Friday DH and I are hitting the stores HARD. We plan to shop, shop, shop in the morning and nap, nap, nap in the afternoon. There is also the little matter of the Alabama/Auburn game that DH may watch.

Friday night the kids are spending the night off so we may go out.

Saturday DD is going with my mom to visit my granddaddy while DS and DH have a lawn to care for. After that we all will probably just hang around the house. It is very likely that DH and I go shopping some more.

Sunday will most likely be spent at the grocery store and getting ready for the upcoming week. Also, we are leaving for Disney World on the 18th, not coming home until the 26th or 27th and we need to be doing some of our travel prep.

I am off from the ER tonight so I am going to just be in the house. No shopping. I don't have the money and basically have shopped too much during the year. I would like to clean my closet today. I work Saturday night and Sunday night in the ER.

Partly, I'm just going to enjoy not having to make that two-hour commute!!

I want to use this weekend to reorganize and get the house prepped for Christmas. Not necessarily to decorate, but to get things put away that should have been put away a long time ago.

One thing I have to do is clear off my dining room table! It has been my beads/crafts table since just after LAST Christmas!!

I'll be working most of the weekend. I have a girlfriend coming over tonight for a "Chick Flick" movie night. Saturday I'll go to my client's for a couple of hours and Sunday, I'll be back at work again for 4 hours or so. It's my busy time of year at work.
