Default Well today it happened - layed off

Well,I'm sure some of you are aware, my position was being eliminated. Well today it happened. I was pretty upset earlier, but am doing ok for right now. I have had my resume posted on several sites for about a month or two. Hopefully something will happen soon. We have a good stockpile for food. The only thing I really need to add to it is toilet tissue and dog food. I did get a severance package so we are eliminating cable and movie pass, have cut back on insurance and cell phone plan. So, hopefully this will last us until I can find something else.

    Wish us luck.

Good luck! It's scary and depressing being out of work this time of year (last winter it was our turn) but I am sure things will pick up in January.

And you will be eligible for unemployment when your severance package runs out. If I were you, I would contact the unemployment office and find out exactly what you have to do and when you have to do it. If you delay in filing until some time after you are eligible, your benefits will start from the date you filled NOT the date you were eligible.

    GOOD LUCK!

    Welcome to the boat

I'm glad you're able to prepare so its not a total shock to you. Great time to show off your mighty fine frugal skills. I hope you get the details of your severance worked out and file for Employment Insurance and get your ducks in a row quickly just in case you have to call on them.
