    Default Neighbor gifts

At this time of year do you give a little gift to your neighbors? Like a plate of special cookies or someother neat little tastly things? Each year a few of us give little things. It is neat to taste these treats each year it is usually something different.

I am going to be making chocolate covered pretzel sticks (the long thick ones and decorate the dipped ends. And some cut out cookies shaped like snowflakes. Some of my neighbors come up with the cutest and tastiest things.

None of them are expensive, but just thoughtful.

We always give our next door neighbor a small gift. Usually something under $20 like a Yankee Candle or a throw blanket. Nothing expensive or extravagant, just something to let her know we are thinking of her.

My mom used to always make plates of cookies for our neighbors. As a kid I love to take them round to them.
I don't think that I going to give to our neighbors this year, but I may make some plates of cookies to take around to friends this year.

Plates of "goodies" have been a family tradition for years. This was always a fun family project, and hubby still looks forward to making things. We're making snackin' things (various kinds of Party Mix-type things) for him to take out to work.

We've made so many kinds of things over the years, it's sometimes difficult to come up with something new. When gifts-in-a-jar became popular a few years ago, we gave out a number of them. Lots of homemade cocoa mix in mugs. This year it will be a loaf of bread (Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day - http://www.artisanbreadinfive.com/) and a jar of homemade jam.

I may make some chocolate biscotti for a couple of neighbors. But I think I might have them over for tea again or a light luncheon during the holidays.

We may have to do something this year since there are somewhat tolerable people there now.

didn't give the neighbors anything...(except something to talk about...lol)....but a few yrs ago i took a plate of cookies to the police and fire departments and thanked them for all they do....(its a really small town here so they felt safe to eat them since they knew me... in a bigger city i would be afraid if i were them that they were poisoned or something...hey-its a cruel world out there...you can't be too careful)....

We always bake cookies to share with our neighbor---we also buy him a gift.

I also make cookies to take to the police department---usually because the husband is working on the holidays.

We always swap small gifts with the neighbors. . . one year I decoupaged fake money on a soup can, filled it with $100,000 Bars, with a note that said "neighbors like you are worth a million". . . . one year I got restaurant.com GC for a local restaurant for $1 (they were $10 GC) so they all got those. . . . one year I shopped lenox.com after Christmas and got some nice candy dishes with sterling silver spoons for $5 ( I just kept them until the next Christmas). . . . in 1999 I gave them Y2K kits (flashlights, hats/mittens, decks of cards, bottled water, granola bars, etc.). . .

We don't share gifts with our neighbours....I think it was a silent code - agree to nod and acknowledge each other and help each other shovel our sidewalks LOL

Both my neighbours on either side of us have moved this year so I have no clue what to expect. Both did not give out candy for Hallowe'en either! Grinches! LOL The previous set of neighbours ROCKED!
