Can he go to the office people who do the payroll with his questions ?
I believe earlier this year that the President signed the bill to have less money withheld from paychecks. So we got some extra money every pay period instead of a lump sum check.
Some people may have to pay back some of this extra money, when tax time comes around for the federal part . Especially those with a 2 income family.--------My signature--------

I worked as a payroll manager for over 30 years before I retired.
Try this link:
http://www.paycheckcity.com/conpw/netpaycalculator.asp
Just fill in the proper amounts and let the calculator do the work.

We have been paying our own taxes for 15 years. It depends what tax bracket you are in as to what should be paid.

I use the income tax tables to estimate our tax liability.
These are the rates for 2009:

Remember that these apply AFTER your standard deduction or itemized deductions (only on taxable income).

I like that calculator, also if you are a 2 income family and are worried about having too little withheld, there is an IRS form your payroll office should have for figuring out witholdings.

He also has extra held out each pay and it has not been listed on his stub. The person doing payroll is of course one of the family memebers of the company and lives two hours away. she just had a baby and her husband works night so she only works when he works. The owner, believe it or not has no clue what's going on as far as the paychecks are concerned. I'm not even allowed to contact them my dh has to or he gets into trouble. I called to find out what day he was going tohave off to make a drs appointment andhe got his butt chewed out for it and then they wouldn't let him have off for the appointment even though they knew a week ahead of time. This company is going downhill fast as far as I'm concerned. Dh want to get another job but is afraid of layoff. He's been at this company for 10 years. I do know they owe us money for when we were on the HIPP program. They were to take what the insurance company sent but wouldn't accept the check. So they took out the premium from his check and we got the check. The insurance company made a big stink about that. If I figugred it right they owe us about 400 bucks that we'll never see. Dh cashed in a week of vacation to go to a huge meat sale last month. When he got his paycheck the next week he had 600 dollars too much. The daughter that does payroll added his weeks vacation twice on the check plus we had already gotten the money to begin with. So instead of taking part out one pay and part out of another pay she took all of it out at once so we were left with almost nothing for two weeks. She told her dad that it was only the one week to cover her mistake. Baut this is a family of " nobody is ever wrong it must be you". Thaks for the info. I'll check it out. Sorry for the long response.
