snowed/iced in since Sunday nite
We got 15 inches of snow overnite Sunday and into Monday morning. I love snow, alot. I love cold, alot. I love winter, alot.
Having said that, we are snowed in, and I don;t love that so much. I ahve never lived anywhere where you cannot get out 3 days after the snow. Our driveway is a solid sheet of ice, as well as the street we live on, and we live at the bottom of the hill. (of course)
So we are stuck. Hubby has been home Monday and Tuesday from work unable to get out. He is on the phone right now trying to get a tow truck to pull him up to dry pavement so he can go to work tomorrow.
My kids had a blast sledding yesterday. (snow day of course) However, my younger son hit his elbow on a tree and really hurt it. He has been holding it since yesterday. I was hoping he'd wake up with it better this AM, but he was still crying that it hurt. I'd like to have it looked at......but of course, we are stuck.
I'll keep you all posted.
ps - it's my daughter's 4th birthday today......we are having to come up with a "plan B" for birthday dinner. (we were going to go to Applebees)

Happy Birthday to your daughter! Good thing you had a plan B, Maybe you should do like we did in Wyoming, park where you can get out, we use to have to walk in a couple blocks, but at least we could get out, just a thought.
At least the kids are having fun, hope his arm is ok.
Its so cold here we cant stay out very long, the snow is so cold it crunches when you walk on it. Love it.
Being stuck is almost like when you have a car, you stay home, but let the car go to the shop and you have all kinds of places you have to go...lol
Maybe you can do your Christmas baking while youre stuck? Will be thinking about you, Take care and be safe..Pine trees, with their needles pointing up to heaven, represent everlasting light and life.

I feel your pain. Here in Iowa we are getting a big storm today into tomorrow and they are saying travel is not advised. I plan on doing some gift wrapping and possible baking for the holidays. Hope you get out soon. They are predicting up to 14 inches or more here. Keep your chin up things will get better. Hugs!!
Becky

We're supposed to get a lot of snow during the night and early morning. My hubby was told to be to work at 3:30 am. Normal time has been 4am. Going to be one long winter for us. I already told him, let me sleep. No sense me getting up with him. He can do his own coffee for the thermos. I'll make him breakfast when he gets off the snow plow truck for his break

I live in Iowa now, and we have 6 inches on the ground, with ice over that, and the National Weather Service is predicting another 7 inches overnight, with 50 mph winds, heavy drifting, and 20 below zero wind chill. Why oh why did I want to move here and retire????????

I'm also in Iowa and we are getting hit really hard across the metro. Hubby got called into patrol 2 hours early, no word on when he will be home. Public Works is plowing around the clock.
Travel is not being advised and yet morons continue to drive around. A friend of mine whose husband is a truck driver said the trucking company he works for was requiring him to still drive the truck tonight. Seriously-what is wrong with people?
By 6 p.m. we had 7.5 inches of snow and it's still coming down hard. Tomorrow we are supposed to get white-out conditions, winds up to 50 mph, and wind chills as low as -20. Blizzard warning is going into effect at 9 pm.

What a pain! That must be rare in your part of the world.
In places where it's not, though, I can really recommend getting a set of cable chains for your car and keeping them in the trunk. Last spring, DW and I were on a weekend getaway. The day we were due to come home, we woke up at the B&B to wet snow falling rapidly. By the time we hit the road, the streets were like a skating rink. Lots of vehicles couldn't get up the slightest rise. I pulled over, put on the chains, and was able to get home safely. They paid for themselves on that one trip.
