    Default our 2010 'bucket list'....

so 2009 was all about paying off our CC debt and by feb we will be free of it all....weehee...

we also went to an all-cash system...cut back on pretty much everything we could and didn't drag anything new into the house....

cleaned out, drug out years worth of accumulated 'stuff' that no longer held any real purpose to either of us......then held a garage sale for 2 weekends in a row/3 days at a time..(well i had other participants in that one)....made a pretty tidy sum which made it all the more worthwhile....

so we got to thinking tonight what we would accomplish for 2010 that would make as big of impact on us that 2009 has....and since we had stopped spending and cut back on everything -- we have alot of this remodeling project that we still need to get finished...

so we have started a 'bucket list' of projects/needs/wants that we are intending to knock out in 2010.... while this list is still in the extremely early stages we are keeping it close and as a thought comes to mind we are adding it to the list....this first draft is just going to be 'the list'....and we are going to work on it for the next couple of weeks.... then we will break it down to 'immediate goals/6 month goals/done before the year ends goals/and if all goes well goals we'll do this too goals'.....

the list is quite 'comical' at the moment as right next to putting railings on the 2nd story back deck so noone falls off is buying salt/pepper shakers....(yes...dh obviously considers that just as important....i personally don't mind using the spice containers they came in...oh well..whatever).....

so that is our goal for 2010....make a list, organize it, work it and finish it before year end...(oh- and another garage sale too as i am 'still' throwing stuff out the door).....

so the bucket list has continued to grow throughout the night..and now has evolved into 'sub-catagories'...

    we now have the :
    project list
    financial list
    personal list

while i say we have plans for financial-- we are going to set 'concrete goals' instead of generalized ones...instead of saying we will save and invest as much as we can each month...i will put a dollar amount to it and have its destination planned out...as one example....i can say i won't spend time shopping and blowing money....but the list will say... no entering any store of any kind from 'x date to x date'.... then when the time passes...i can cross it off my list....(i am currently thinking 1 week a month of no stores to start)......

for personal...same thing....so that it does not start looking like a bunch of 'new years resolutions' ...(i will lose weight, i will get healthy, i will stop wasting so much time.....etc.....) everything will have a 'concrete ending'.... meaning i plan on hiking a 100k (62 miles) on may 1 of 2010 in one 24 hr period... so that means that for me not to 'die' out on the trail i have to start seriously training on jan 1...(and with that will come the healthy eating and weight loss and etc)..... so in other words...my list will say 100k.... then on may 2nd...i can cross it off....

that's our thoughts on all this at the moment anyway....

I think this is a great idea... I am a list fan... and have found I feel much more at peace/unstressed when I have lists made and things written down.

DH and I don't have a "bucket" list or even a concrete goal list for 2010 yet... but we have a few ideas.

I assume you hike a lot... 62 miles in one day is amazing! The best of wishes to you both for your goals.

p.s. I understand about the s&p shakers - and feeling they are important. We always find ourselves saying, "we should get (insert random household object here) sometime." but never do... I keep saying we need to make a list of just things we would like to have so that we actually someday buy them. And can maybe even remember to find a good deal on them!

Great idea SS....you should move this to the challenge thread or goals/dreams thread so you can kkep adding to it and crossing it off as the year progresses.

I am working on my bucket list!
