Can not say cleaning the stove is one of my favorite things. But keep on telling yourself how nice it will be when your oven is sparkling clean. One thing I do enjoy is opening an oven and it is clean inside.

I vote you are able to reward yourself once its done - ie sitting back with a cup of coffee/tea and a baked treat to admire your hard work

I say buy a new stove.
I hate cleaning the oven, every time I clean it, the old commerical from the 60's pops in my head, some of you may remember it...'what's a nice girl like you doing in a place this this?'

I have to admit it is one of my least favorite jobs. But I can't stand anything dirty so I try to clean up the spills as they happen. Think about the end result and maybe it won't be so bad.

After it is clean, put a cookie sheet under things you are putting in the oven. Or at least put a piece of aluminum foil on the bottom of the oven. It makes it MUCH easier to clean.

Please come down here and clean mine for me after you are through with yours.

I desperately need to clean it before Christmas to avoid being embarrased when others come over and put things in the oven to keep them warm.

Don't you guys use no fumes easy off? Just wipe it off. I keep a spray bottle of water to rinse then wipe that out. I have a self cleaning oven but can't part w/ the electic money. KWIM. If you take an old cookie sheet and use it as a drip pan it will save a lot of messes. My oven is 20 years old and looks pretty good inside because of the easy off.

    Thank you about the avatar.

In my case, I think it is just being "LAZY" when it comes to cleaning the oven.

What kills me about cleaning is that the tile they put on our floor before we bought is cement (think knees) plus doggies give kisses because you are bring ing your head in and out of the oven at their level. Surprise!!

Funny!! I remember one time when we had a medium sized dog, that she was helping me clean the oven. We both had our heads in the oven. I am so glad no one had a camera. But that really would have made a fantastic picture.

But be sure the foil touches NONE of the wires. You aren't even supposed to line the stove pans with foil....but I do. If it touches any of the wires/controls it can short it out - so I have read. Haven't had it happen.

I swear by Easy off.........the best stuff. Spray it on - wait - wipe it off. I did have to spray twice a month or so ago.......had boiled a strawberry/rhubarb pie over ---- it ran under the foil!!
