Default We are going start restoring our victorian

We have a Victorian and we decided to start diving into restoring it. All the woodwork is mohagoney *spelling*All hardwood floors. Some of the walls have to redone plaster is falling off. So i decided to sell everything we have on ebay. We will sell from now till summer ,then we will have a garage sale.I will not part with my carnival glass and some furnitiure. But everything is going. Each room will cost around $500 to redo.Except kitchen that will be around $ 5000 will not go into debt cash only. All appliances are new. We will will do all the work our self. It wont be easy but well worth it. We are climbing out of a depression and feel this will give us something to look forward to. Most of you all the problems we have faced in the last year or so. Im really looking forward to it

Yes, that will be fun! If you can post before
and after pictures, that would be awesome.

You and your DH have had such a hard year. I think delving
into a project like this will be good therapy for you both.

Hoping 2010 will be a year of blessings for you!

How exciting. I love Victorian style homes. We use to rent an old duplex that was victorian and I started stripping the fireplace mantle, woodwork, and stair railings. Lots of oak and mohogany wood. Beautiful. Hope you take lots of pics to share.

    Sounds like a fantastic adventure.

That $500 per room doesn't include any plumbing or electrical repair, I'm assuming. We've got a nearly century old home and spent a couple grand replacing the rusty plumbing.

all the wiring was newly instaled through the rafters and so forth about 10 years ago and a new box was installed in the basement. So $500 will be around the cost. The kitchen like i said will cost the most.
