    Default new email messages

I have over 3000 email messages in my inbox. These are not including spam. I have to go through them all just about. I am getting way too many email messages.

I am so lazy when it comes to this. Facebook has made it bad because they send you an email for every notification. I tried to change the settings and yes.....more emails.

    UGGGGH!!!!

Anyone else having the same trouble?

I have folders set up and rules that send emails to certain folders automatically. I also have numerous email accounts - Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail, and my internet provider. I have one Yahoo email that I use when I sign up for freebies because they generate so much spam.

I also had to get into the habit of reading emails and then either deleting immediately or moving to a folder. You have to find a system that works for you.

I used to get a lot of e-mail from FB, but it stopped when I changed my settings -- thankfully! I just went through and unsubscribed myself to a ton of lists that I was on (mostly stores b/c I do most of my shopping online & dating sites, which I don't visit anymore since meeting my SO ). It took a lot of time, but I definitely feel less overwhlemed when I check my e-mail now.

I also use a different e-mail addy when I sign up for free offers and such.

I would just start a new one and notify family and friends. Use that one ONLY for friends and family.

If signing up for freebies etc use another one cause you WILL get slammed with spam.

I hate deleting too. Then I have to go thru the deleted just to make sure of what I'm deleting before I delete permanently. Yuck

Have folders also set up. Last night I went through and deleted a bunch of e-mails. Most e-mails go to the junk folder. I am very particular with who gets my e-mail address and who is considered safe.

I have probably deleted many attempts for people to get in touch with me because they were in the junk folder which just gets emptied. lol

OOh definately turn off the FB notifications! For example, do I care if a friend of a friend got poked? You can easily see what's going on once you sign in, no need to see it twice right?

I have an email for strictly emails and another for chats/freebies and a 3rd for jokes/fwds. This way if I'm rushed and can only check one email, its going to be the real account - the non joke/spam account. But of course this rule should be well known, if its truly THAT important - CALL ME do not email me. A lot of people are so afraid to call each other these days. I had a friend freak out at me b/c she needed my help desperately but I wasn't able to check my email for 3 days. I only found out she was mad at me b/c I called her to ask for a recipe.
