    Default who doesn't watch tv

I remember reading where someone posted that they don't watch television anymore. I think it was to help reduce their debt. I can't find that post anymore.
I am really close to turning off my satellite. Just the thought is making me have withdrawal symptoms. I know I can do it but I need some encouragement.
Help me my FV family!! Who doesn't watch tv so that I won't feel alone in doing this.

We watch movies that we borrow from the library or that we own but we have no cable. We haven't had cable for 12 years.

When the twins were 9(they are 13 now) they spent a few weeks at their Grandpas and they were watching cartoons. He told them to go have their showers and they asked him to pause the cartoons. He just about fell over laughing, they had no idea there were shows that you couldn't control. LOL

We down-graded our cable almost a year ago. DH was NOT willing, but he agreed to do it for 3 months. We don't miss it at all. We have a few local channels and that's it. We use Netflix streaming and DVD service for less than $10/month.

I enjoy not "worrying" about missing a show or having to watch a program. The TV is hardly on and the kids are finding other things to do

We only have the outside antenna. We don't watch anything but football, anyway, and once in a while we watch a DVD.

We don't have cable and I don't miss it. I do watch tv shows online and we rent DVDs from Redbox once in awhile.

I find we watch very little TV. Most shows don't hold my attention or interest for long. IF I do like a show, you can pretty much count on it being cancelled!

We have basic cable. We downgraded from having all the bells and whistles. We are thinking about getting rid of it completely. We have a digital converter box; so we could watch regular TV if and when we felt the need.

We get RedBox movies GENERALLY for free. They are only a dollar, but why pay a dollar when you can get them free? There are codes for free movies all the time.

You can find many shows online and watch them for free. You might have to wait, but that is fine with me! Example - Sometimes you have to wait until season 2 starts to see season 1 for free, but that is fine with me.

We cancelled satellite last Dec when we saw the world wasn't going to get better in a few months. Even cancelled Netflix. It was bad at first. Got less with time. Borrowed DVD's from friends and finally got around to watching the ones we had. From being on here I found that I could get them free at the library. Also found out about Hulu. I watch Hulu alot. Also ABC is online and alot of their shows available to watch. CBS and NBC also just not as many as ABC. Some of the others such as Bravo, TLC, Lifetime etc have a few, or did, haven't checked them for awhile. Alot of the soaps, if you are so inclined are online on their respective stations. General Hospital etc.

I miss Netflix more I think.

No cable her e either. I did not want to be tv police when the kids were growing up. Still had to though because grandma lives next door & they could go over there for tv. They still do at times.
We rent or borrow a movie on weekends. I don't like watching tv, the commercials really bother me. It seems like a big waste of time sitting through them.

Technically I don't. But I watch a ton of stuff on my laptop, so that's probably cheating the idea.

I'm like inkstain. I haven't had a tv for years, but I am guilty of wasting more time than I like to admit playing around on the computer. No streaming though since I have pokey dial up. I spend time reading or working puzzles or crocheting or this or that. I never liked tv all that much anyway and have never missed it.

Edited to add - Actually, I've been without it so long, I more or less forget it exists, and when I hear people occasionally talking about it, it seems really strange, like another universe. Another instance of it really being true that we make our own worlds by the choices we make. I don't think it's a bad thing, it is just totally non-existent for me. The world is full of other things to do.

There is no reception here for broadcast TV signals, and there is no cable on our street. We weren't sufficiently motivated to get satellite TV - 500 channels and nothing on - so we don't watch TV. We haven't missed it. We use the equipment to watch rented movies.

I dont have cable. I do have a converter box hooked to the tv ( $50 bucks at best buy last year) that gives me about 7 or 8 channels. I watch mostly PBS.

We don't have cable either. We have a converter box and antenna. I think together they cost us $40. We get the major networks plus PBS and Fox. I miss a few things, but I can either find them online or rent them later. My DH does miss watching auto racing (he really enjoys IRL and F1, but not Nascar), but keeps track of the race online.
The byproduct is that our home is quieter. We don't pay the cable company for cable (internet, but not cable).

We don't have cable and don't even own a TV or DVD player. We do rent DVDs on occasion from Blockbuster (rarely) or from the library and watch them on our computers. I do like youtube.
