Default How old is you car?

DH and I have a 1988 Honda Accord with 255,000 miles. It runs great (knock on wood) and saves us bunches of money on gas since he commutes about 60 miles per day. We bought it this past summer for about 1,400...so I figure if it lasts us at least a year we will be ahead compared to what we would have spent on a car payment and higher insurance costs. I just think it's comical that the car is only 5 yrs younger than me!
We also have a 2005 Nissan Titan pickup that we are paying out the nose for every month! Lesson learned...I'm not sure I'd ever by a new vehicle again, even if I won the lottery!

I never buy new. Think that is the last of dh's new cars.

1992 Chevy StepSide Extended Cab Pickup - 200,000+ miles
    1993 Chevy StepSide Pickup - 250,000+ miles

The trucks were paid off years ago. The second one was purchased used. The 92 truck needs transmission work and will get it soon. The 93 truck has a smaller engine; so we use it over the 92. The 92 comes in handy when we go camping, hauling three dogs around, etc.

The motorcycle was hubby's life long dream. He was not allowed to buy one until we bought a house and he doubled his life insurance. It is used AS MUCH AND AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE to save on gas. You would be amazed what two people can carry on a motorcycle.

The trucks are used to pick up inventory (I sell online), take to storage, pickup from storage, take packages to FedEx, etc. Heck, we live in Texas! Everybody has a pickup truck. We will probably sell the 1992 and buy a more efficient vehicle in the near future.

1999 Honda CRV - bought used, paid cash (6k with taxes)has about 108k miles now. Good car as long as the valves are adjusted every 15-20k miles and the maintenance is followed about 5k earlier then it says.

I don't buy new. I like the way older stickshift Hondas feel like a good pair of shoes, and that won't change with a lotto win either!

Mom had an 83 Accord bought new and we ran it until 360k miles (two engines, but only one tranny) when we gave it away. So sometimes if you buy new and have the car longer than expected it is okay to buy new. . . . JMHO.
