Hard Times......
A little background. I am the moderator of the ReCycle group in my area. ReCycle is just like FreeCycle..only we have 1000 members and FreeCycle has more
. Anyway, every so often we have a contest to see who can post the most offers and there are prizes awarded to the top 3 group members who post the most . These contests usually do pretty well....until now.
The contest runs for 2 weeks and so far only 2 of our members have posted an offer.(contest ends the 21st). I'm here scratching my head, b/c we usually have a nice turnout for these events.I feel sad b/c I believe that the recession has finally caught up w/us here (we're at 6 - 6.4% unemployment)& that would explain it. I'm also a member of the FreeCycle group & have noticed the same thing is happening w/them too - very few "offers" and a ton of "wanteds" *sigh*

It may just be the wrong time of year. Mid december isn't typically when folks clean their garage, although your weather is pretty nice (compared to my single digit temps). And I would bet a lot of people are more focused on the holidays right now.

That's another thought that did come to mind...but yet, in the past years, we've held contests during Christmas and we had wonderful results.....perhaps in January we'll start to see some more activity - after the holidays...people getting rid of their old stuff??? We'll just have to wait & see

Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

This time of year I don't even look at the ads, let alone have time to post them. Spring through fall I post stuff constantly.

I think monkeywrangler71 is right. Maybe people are too busy right now to look at ads. Personally, I am! I usually love sifting through kijiji ads but not this month. Too much to do.
