    Default Must be fate! Sigh.......

I was debating buying a new winter coat. The last new one I bought was in 2000. I have boughten two used Columbia coats for $9 for both at a yard sale since 2000. They are starting to look tired though.

I debated and debated about coat shopping because I am actively trying to lose weight and fully expect to be in a smaller size next winter and didn't want to waste the cash if it wouldn't fit next winter.

I decided to go. I found a 4 in 1 coat I loved at JC Penny's. $180 on sale for $39.99. I was ready to buy it but my size was not on the sales floor. They checked the inventory in back but no luck. The sales lady wrote everything down and told me I could order in and have it shipped to the store free of charge.

I went home and went online. The color I want is not in stock and it is $69.95 online not $39.99!

Gee think that is a sign not to spend my $$ or what????

or it might be a way of showing you they might have something more special on sale later and if you had spent the money now, you wouldn't find the sale you're intended for later!

I agree with Stacy. After-Christmas sales are the very best (much better than Black Friday sales), and if you can hold off for a couple of weeks, I think you'll score a deal that will make you glad you waited.

You could wait and see if a leather coat goes on sale. I have had mine for like 6 or 7 years now and it is still very warm to wear.

If you can just hang in there until January you can probably find a really good deal on a coat. If you have a Burlington Coat Factory near you, you might want to try there. They have good prices on some really good coats.

I always check the thrift stores in the summer time for winter clothes. Last summer I bought a LLBean down parka for $10 and it looks brand new at the thrift store. The coat is super warm so I do not need a whole bunch of layers.

Hang in there. The perfect coat is out there waiting for you!!

I do not know if you are still interested by your post, but if you really want that coat (and it probably is good quality because of the what the regular price is) go back to Penneys and tell them what happened. They will order the coat for you at the sale price with free shipping. I bought shoes this way this past summer.

PS Sometimes after the holidays things are picked over. I think if you really liked that coat; you ought to go buy it for that large discount because you haven't bought yourself a new one in 9 years. At some point you deserve a new one. You are worth it!!!

Pam it isn't available. I guess that size is out of stock online. I'll call back out there again today and double check one more time. It is available in a different color though but not the preferred color.

Pennys said they will not be getting any more winter coats in. The very nice lady checked. I really should call and comment on all her help.

I did check sears, macy and kohls and nothing terrific.

Pookala I do have 2 beautiful leathers. However I need to shrink to fit them.

This is embarrasing to admit but I have gained about 20 lbs over the last year. I am very busty even when at my goal weight but I was darn well horrified a large wouldn't zip over my bust! I seriously think this is my sign to stay very serious about getting back to my goal weight! Gee then I have about 5 great coats that fit

Just a thought... check out thrift stores right after Christmas. Many will be cleaning out closets to make room for all the gifts. Plus, January should be a great month to get like new items that weren't just right. Besides, no need to spend too much if it will be the wrong size next winter!
