I work from 11pm-7am. So yep i'm a night shifter. I don't even get to see the sun on my way home from work during the winter. I work at the front desk doing night audit/bookkeeping for one of the local YMCAs.

Yes, Night shifter here. 11p-7a, and I prefer it to any other shift.
    It is what it is.

You know I'm a night shift person (see my sig) for 30+ years. I would be perfectly happy to live my entire life 365 days a year on the night shift, sleep during the day......ahhhhh heaven!!

My dad used to not understand the backwards nature of my lifestyle, and would ineveitably call 'just to chat' at 11am - he's start out the call by saying (in a semi-accusing tone) "are you STILL sleeping?" Finally fixed him by phoning him @ 3am 'just to chat'!! After the tirade- I calmly explained that this was how I felt almost every single time he called me.

My kids do their schoolwork while I sleep (they are teens) and know the only three legitimate reasons for waking a sleeping night nurse are 1) house on fire - and approaching the bedroom 2) enough blood to fill the FOUR cup measuring cup and 3) Craig Ferguson is at the door.

I am usually a day shift person but am on overnights until the first week of January. I work at Walmart and we are just too short handed right now. I do enjoy overnights a lot better but my stomach tends to stay torn up.

Wish I could stay on overnights.

The stomach thing is actually very common - try a small (graham cracker or two) snack every two hours. I also eat Tums (I need the calcium anyway 'cause I dislike milk).

Sommersa, I agree that back and forth is definitely the worst. When I started my present job, I had four evening shifts (either 2 or 4 to 11) and one day (8-6). I'm a night owl too and working late never got to bed until 3 or so at the earliest, and that 8 am every Saturday almost killed me. I finally told the director I just could not do that, so she agreed to let me have Saturday evening too. It made a world of difference to have that consistency.
