Feelin' Kinda Gross.....
Well, my fellow Villagers...
I think I did something kinda stupid the other day, and now I'm paying for it. Or maybe it's a combination of things.
I had a heating contractor at the house 2 nights ago, doing a service and checkup on my furnace. I rent my house, and my landlord had said last year that she'd have it done, but it never happened. So I decided that this year I was going to do it myself and she agreed to take the cost off the rent for January. So I had this guy in my basement, cleaning out the furnace and servicing it. Believe it or not, this furnace was installed in 1993, and he was pretty sure it had NEVER been cleaned or serviced since then, based on the amount of dirt that was caked all over everything in there. It was pretty amazing what a difference it made once he was done. The house was considerably warmer.
HOWEVER...
While he was cleaning the blower, he had the floor cage (containing the blower) out of the furnace and on the floor, facing upwards as he cleaned the fins on the blower with a brush. Once he was done, he turned the blower on to blow the dirt and dust out of it. I was standing about 2 feet away, watching him work. I got a direct faceful of 15 years worth of dirt, dust and God knows what else blown out of the blower and into my eyes and nose. He apologized, but I still can't figure out why didn't realize it was going to do that?!?
I had horrible sinus pain all the next day, and was coughing and sneezing all day. I figured I must have inhaled a pretty good snootful of the stuff.
Then tonight, silly me, I was eating some peanut brittle (ah, the holidays!), and somehow managed to inhale a small piece of it, and coughed and hacked for a while on that one.
So now I'm feeling like absolute crapola. My chest hurts, my throat hurts, and I just have been feeling kinda bad all over since the dust-in-the-face incident a couple of days ago.
Anyhow...just had to vent, even though some of this was self-inflicted!

That is awful the guy should have warned you that it was going to go flying.... I have had in past a huge face full of dust and grime that was yucky (attic full of bat dropping and years of yuck... and my hubby dropped a box and bam a huge cloud of dust all over... we were both sick coughy and yucky feeling for at least a month but it cleared up.... needless to say we are much more careful now (we are antique dealers and routinely visit dirty attics and basements...)

Sounds like when I cleaned out our mousy garage. You may want some antibiotics. you don't want an upper respitory infection for xmas.

Thanks all!
Feeling some better this morning, just stuffy and still kind of gross in the sinus/chest area. But good enough to get up and make breakfast and head to church!

Hope you feel better before Christmas. I've been miserable for the last 2 weeks but I was out of my Singular. I finally went to the doctor last Friday and got my new prescription filled. It's amazing how much better I can breath after just 2 nights of that little pill. Try some Nyquil at night. It always knocks me right out so I can at least sleep.

You can also try a simple saline nasal spay. Less than a dollar at the drugstore. Use it to moisten or flush sinus tissues when something like this happens.

You might try a week or two worth of mucinex, along with really hydrating yourself. Will loosen up the mucus and help you get rid of it. Also, a good hot shower, breathe the steam you know! Hope you feel better soon!!
We are packing to move, and it's amazing the amount of dust you find after 18 years!!!

So sorry you aren't feeling well. I would have been miserable too...I'm very allergic to dust mites and stirring up dust and blowing it in my face like that would have been so awful....I can imagine how terrible it made you feel. Hope you are better soon. {{{HUG}}}
