    Default More winter weather......missing Christmas

Well we missed Christmas with the inlaws yesterday because we were snowed in and they were too and had no power. Now it looks like we will also be missing Christmas Eve with my family because they are calling for an ice storm that day! And my mom, bless her heart calls me this evening to ask if we can get out yet and do I think we will make it Thursday. Ummmmmm Mom? It's SUNDAY! I don't know if we can make it up to your house on THURSDAY yet!

I told her if they are still calling for ice we will NOT be there. Fun Christmas holiday all around!

Better to be safe and have more Christmases together in the future than to go out on icy roads and risk your life. Sorry the weather is putting a damper on your holidays.

Sorry about the weather hurting your Christmas plans but LB is right....it is better to be safe than sorry.

I agree with Suzanne. It is never worth risking life/limb to travel in trecherous conditions, even at Christmas.

We, too, have cancelled our Christmas plans due to the recent storm (we're in Massachusetts). Everyone understands. Better to play it safe. But I'm sorry for your disappointment.

Well I just checked the weather and now they are NOT calling for an ice storm. I wish they'd make up their minds. My family is very limited on when we can get together for this. My dh works 12 hour rotating shifts, my dad and brother work and my nephew works crazy shifts because he works in a convenience store. And my sister and her family are moving away right after Christmas too so that really narrows down our time. Guess I will have to keep an eye on the forecast!

Just take it one day at a time. At least you have the telephone and can call and make sure family is safe, with the power out and deep snow.

After watching the news and seeing all the people stranded in airports, snowed in, etc. yesterday, I told hubby I would start celebrating Christmas in July! There is already enough stress around the holidays. But throw in bad weather and I would probably crawl under the covers and not come out 'til spring!

Sorry you are going through this.

It could be much worse. One of my best friends called today. She lives near the state capital and she has no power. It's been out since Saturday and they told her it would probably be Christmas day before it's restored. She also has no heat so she's had to send her kids to her parent's house to stay until the power comes back on.

My power blinks off and on on a good sunny day and ours didn't go out with 18 inches of snow. Go figure!

The power outages always scare me.

It's hard when the weather dictates our celebrations - it's hard on the kids - and really, it's hard on the adults too.

Hope whatever happens that everyone stays safe and warm - make the most of it - we all may be adding some strange traditions to holiday celebrations!!

    Sorry this has happened wv.

Yep, LB is right on....there will be other Xmases to celebrate if you are careful and safe during this one.

A good year to start some fun new traditions for when mother nature/the weather gives you a good kick in the teeth!

I can relate to what you are going through - last year at this time we had five feet of snow and NO ONE was going anywhere!! Thank god we had no power outages.
