My excuse for not putting up a tree - the dogs would just knock it over, eat the ornaments, etc. THAT is my story and I am sticking to it - LOL!

The only reason mine is up is because ds did it LOL. He got it out of the attic the day after Thanksgiving and put it up. I hate it up that early. It's coming down by Sunday too!

I have no holiday spirit this year for some reason. I didn't put the wreath on the front door and I didn't even bother to get out my nativity set or my snowman and santa collection. It's in a tub in the back room and I don't even care that it's not out!

Lol...one of my excuses is....that the 3 yr old & the 5 yr old houseapes would pull the ornaments off of the tree & play w/ them thinking that they were toys...& I would be missing a few when I had to put them away -only to find them buried in the toybox months later.Gr. Other famous excuses are: I'm afraid of heights & I don't want to go up in the attic to get it down.

We are always late putting up the tree. However it is up this year earlier. I usually bake a few kinds of cookies on Christmas eve, but yesterday I baked 3 batches. Not good. Too easy to walk by and eat them. I am having a hard time getting into the spirit this year. I have adhd and this time of year is always hard getting organized and getting things done. Hardest part for me is finding just the right gift for everyone. Last year we exchanged names and it was so much easier. This year new dil decided she didn't want to do it soooo now we had to buy for everyone making it more stressful for me. I really need to start thinking about what needs to be done the beginning of November without falling into the retailers spend, spend, spend (setting up Christmas trees before Halloween)

well i put mine up under total duress...(i THOUGHT i would be having company coming and didn't want to seem like a total hum-bug...) now the company can't come...we just had the family celebration saturday at my sisters in Indpls and i am so ready for all this stuff to be put away and be done with it...dh said sunday morning when he got up he really expected to find the house 'stripped of x-mas' ...and don't think i didn't think about it...haha..... me too on the as soon as x-mas is over its back to the attic (and i usually wait at least a week after new years)....

i am being such a 'humbug' this year...i simply don't care about the season at all for some reason...no i'm not depressed or even sad...i just don't want to participate --that's all.....everyone else that is enjoying the holidays and having a good time i am very happy for and i am glad that they are....i however just want to be a brat about it....humph.......

I feel EXACTLY the same way! I am glad others are enjoying it, but I JUST don't want to participate. I was thinking this exact thought this morning when I got up.

Want to know a secret? I don't like Christmas and never have. I feel VERY pressured to be the perfect mom and I HATE that feeling.
Sice we're moving next week, and since our youngest is 14 and DD#2 cannot come home until January, we postponed Christmas until next month, and honestly, this is the best I've felt in December in years.
This is the first time I've ever really been honest about this, and it kinda feels good to tell someone else!

Tree is up and has been since Black Friday. used some older ornaments and homemade ornaments this year. No baking yet, but I usually don't for Christmas. I will be making Christmas Lunch and need a Ham or something for that.

All presents except 1 has been bought and wrapped.

A few years ago we lost a grandmother on Dec 9th and then an aunt on the same side of the family on Dec 12th of the same year. Since then it has been really hard for all of us to get into the spirit.

I remind myself what Christmas is and why we celebrate and then put up the tree gladly. I have friends who will be with me at my Apartment this year so it will be better than several of the last Christmases.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS Ya'll!

I'm way behind this year. My tree is naked since we just got it in the stand Saturday (too much rain = wet Christmas tree). Its very crooked, but dh thinks it fine. We had planned to at least get the lights & some decorations on it yesterday, but wrapped presents & did laundry instead. I mailed 4 cards this morning & have 6 or so to mail tomorrow if I get them done tonight. Also on my to do list: grocery shopping, gift card to buy, a few odds & ends to pick up (candy, stocking stuffers), decorating & a little wrapping to do... bows for the front door wreaths (naked wreaths out there currently). OK, I don't want to think about what else I need to do.

We don't put up a tree anymore. The nice artificial one is stored in the garage now.
Hubby does put up some outside decorations. Usually lights, but not this year. We do have some Xmas stuff put out for display. I did pick up a real cute animated singing Winnie the Pooh item the other day at the thrift shop for $ 10. It's a Eyore with the Piglet on his back and he moves to the music and even has a string of lights that light up. Kind of hard to justify buying any additional Xmas stuff when finding a place to store it properly is hard to do. It was one of those spur of the moment purchases. They had him on the front counter plugged in and singing away. ..........I was good.. I didn't bring the singing Xmas Mickey Mouse home too.....he was cute

I just haven't bothered. I don't really care to. I figure I'll just enjoy everyone else's decorations this year
