10 Days Left ~ Are You Ready For 2010?
I tried to think of all the little things I can get done now, before the new year, so I can start fresh!
First, I cashed in my MyPoints for a Kmart gift card.
Second, I cashed in my hubby's WorldPoints for a $25 check (gotta love real money)
Third, I'm about to empty/count/roll all the change left in my change jar - not much - and give it to the kids for their savings accts so I can start the new year off with an empty jar.
oh, and I also deleted everything in my email box
I know I'm not the only goof ball out there - who else feels the need to cleanse before Jan. 1st?Don't Breed or Buy While Shelter Pets Die

bumplett, you are definitely not a goofball!! Japanese tradition is to clean out your home at the end of the old year to be ready for the new.
I like the way that you have attacked the issue. I definitely want to clean up my email - mahalo for mentioning that in particular!!
Am planning on getting ready for the 2010 debt reduction challenge, so I will be getting all my 2009 paperwork organized before the new year starts. That will be my biggie for this year.
What are you planning on doing to wrap up 2009?Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

I am trying to start the new year with a tidy house, not just clean, but no random stacks of paper. No piles pushed in the corner that never get tended to. The older DD gets (she is 2) the bigger messes she makes...I need to learn to stay on top of it.

I hear you on the emails. I sat down and went through about 1400 Friday night. I am down to about 250. Wonder how important they are? I need to unsubscribe to some newsletters.
I too would love to have Christmas decor gone by Jan. 1st. I need to go through piles of paperwork and mail as well.
I need to get items ready for taxes. We usually get money back, so why not go ahead and be ready?

I wrote up my year end resolutions a few weeks back, and I've already accomplished 4 out of the 6, so I'm pretty happy.
I'll write up a few more for the new year, just to stay in keeping with tradition.

got my file cabinet prepared for 2010. want to, need to be a little more organized in that department
otherwise i don't scramble to get things done before the end of the year. i sit down on new years eve and write a list of things i want to accomplish the following year. sometimes month by month, or by vacation time. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but it's always a joy to cross off the things i've accomplished.

Heck no! LOL Work has been overwhelmingly busy this year, plus I waited to long to get started on making Christmas gifts. It's been nuts this year for me. I have thought about it though. There are some changes I need to do in the coming year. I can't have another year like this last one. I'm hoping to get started writing some of this stuff down on Sunday.

working on our 'bucket list'...will have short term goals, 6 mo's goals, yr end goals, and if we have anything left goals...this is the first year we will have anything written in 'stone' as all other years it was wing it... i have always hated having a 'plan' as i like to be spontaneous, plus i didn't want to feel the pressure of having a major list to get done...but after the accomplishments of 2009 (paying off 97% of our debt, decluttering the entire house and being able to count on one hand the new things that made it past the front door and completely giving up shopping as a 'hobby' thus freeing up my life)... i don't feel weighted down by the thought and i am ready to implement new thoughts and ideas....productive /vs/ destructive ones....

What really needs cleaning up/dusting off is my mind and my heart.

By the New Year, I want a clean slate. I'm going to spend the next week and a half working on:
forgiveness,
clarity,
simplicity of thought (such as taking things at face value...not over-analyzing them),
finding the warmth I have inside me for others, and letting it OUT
,
working on trust,
working on hope,
cultivating the 'giving' me,
obliterating my obsessiveness,
looking hard for that silver lining,
LOVE,
loving-kindness______

I can't wait for the new year to start! A fresh start! I am not going to worry about clearing the slate to start the new year! The new year is my clean slate, everything will start happening come the first, starting with cleaning, simplifying and organizing my home and diet! I have already written out my new years resolutions and will hope to try and stick to at least some of them. I would like to set, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals for myself, but I am going to take that day by day, and decide what needs to be done at that time. I hope to make this a good year for my family and I!
