Here we go again...
I have to be @ work at 8:30. Not only did I wake up an hour early by mistake but I get a phone call from DH that our crappy car, had a crappy breakdown, and the crappy tire blew. So we had to put the crappy donut on it.
I work 25 minutes away, and DH works 35 minutes away. We DO NOT have the money to get this tire fixed right now...And I bet that this donut is gonna blow on us to because I think you are only suppose to drive 50 miles with it right? And my Dad can't take off work even for 25 minutes because he runs his own business and will loose students if he cancels.
Lovely way to start the day!!!!

I'm sorry to hear that! These things always seem to happen at the most awful times! I hope everything works out for you!

as soon as you are able, start a sinking fund/freedom account, for car repairs.
11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

To make matters worse, DH get the donut on and it blew right away to. He is stuck 30 minutes away. My dad is taking me to work but how I am gonna get home is unknown to me. I just feel like bawling.

((((Hugs)))) Never good to start your day out the way your day is starting. Depending on the area you live in I would guess you could get a used tire (maybe even new) for the amount of money you have in your BEF & change jar. I know it would suck to have to use that money, but it is better than being without transportation.
Around here used tires go for around $10-$20 each, not including putting it on the rim."Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans." John Lennon

1) I'm sorry you're off to a crappy start of a day.
2) How's the BEF coming along? This qualifies as an emergency (a replacement tire that is, NOT a new car!
)
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I'm sorry your day is starting bad Ashley and I hope you get this resolved.
I think you should take the opportunity to use this as a lesson though. Four days ago you were very proud of getting all your Christmas shopping done and today you do not have money to fix a tire.
You could get a used tire for a reasonable price, I'm guessing $15-$20 but you spent all of your money on Christmas gifts and wrapping. Re-think your budget next year for Christmas as you do NOT need to get it all done at once and be flat broke the next week.Russ

Try to get those tires fixed. It's cheaper than new tires. I bet that donut just needs inflated.

What Russ said.
You have been here long enough and read enough to know you should have been setting up that BEF *FIRST THING*.
You'll get sympathy from me this time. If this ever happens again and you don't have money in your BEF to handle what *should* have been a minor inconvenience, I will take a day off work, drive up to NJ, AND KICK YOUR ASS.
Clear?
