Adoption help!!
I hope its ok to post this here and maybe it will be moved to the adoption forum....But DS and wife are jumping into adoption...they just found out last month they can't have children....they live in Ca. in an apartment with his dad. The adoption place adoptionnetwork.com said it would run about 25 to 30 k money they do not have. DS does have some CDs back here in Iowa that we have been saving for him about 20k he would like to use it for this adoption...my thing is will they be taken advantage of??? Has anyone used this company before?? help help help!

You might also check the Better Business Bureau for complaints.
I am a little surprised, if the agency IS legit, that they would adopt to a couple who are sharing an apartment with a parent. I have always heard that adoption agencies are pretty picky about who they will consider.
Money-wise, however, that is not unusual for a private adoption.DH aka Mad Hen

No advice, just wanted to offer a hug. I am sure they are devastated.
They should take a step back, take a little time to mourn their infertility and then talk to others who have been through it (infertility and adoption). My cousin recommends www.resolve.org in working through this decision (we are currently seeing a fertility specialist - 16 months of trying to conceive). I've been spending time there myself, but have not heard anything about adoptionnetwork.com.
Depending on what they have in mind with regards to adoption, I have heard good things and have almost-first hand experience with Wide Horizon's for Children (my neice and nephew were adopted from Korea through WHC in 2003 and 2005).
Good luck to them. They are undoubtably feeling pretty devastated and want to "fix" the problem and make the hurt go away. They do need time to mourn that their life isn't exactly the way they expected it.
