Blue Jean Challenge
My son actually got me started with my "Blue Jean Challenge". A little background....ds#4 has a favorite pair of jeans that he WILL NOT let me throw in the rag bag -its his favorite pair. Sooo...I have been patching & repairing them everytime they get a new rip. This got me to thinking..I have 2 favorite pair of jeans and just out of curiosity, I want to see just how long I can make them last before tossing them.
I wear these 2 pair alternately. I haven't bothered to patch the holes in the front of the legs b/c that's "fashionable" down here where I live. But the BUTT is a different story. After tiring of doing embroidery-like repair stitches, I finally got smart & patched that area from the inside, so if it rips there, I have something there to cover my tail....and still look "fashionable" too. I was really amazed when I saw that someone else had the same idea too when I went to the store. Let me make myself clear..I don't have a habbit of looking at butts....but I couldn't help not to notice the rips in another person's jeans & how they repaired them.lol
So far this challenge has been great. I wear these 2 pairs for around the house or shopping, and I'm saving my "Best blue jeans" for other occasions

I have a favorite pair I refuse to throw out! I have the hole in one knee and the other knee is beginning to get thin...I haven't fixed them yet as everyone says, "I look hip"
I haven't had a hole in the butt yet but will fix them when I do. I have a personal challenge to myself to wear all clothes until there is no possible way of wearing them anymore. We don't leave the property often so it isn't like I have to dress up to go to work. I decided to wear all my clothes out before I buy anything else and only bought one sweater for myself in 2009 and it was from Goodwill!
Good luck!

I have a pair of "hand painted" jeans - a multicolor, random design, created over years of painting projects. They are truly one of a kind, and I consider them "too good" to wear to Walmart.

My DS had a pair like this. He likes them long but not hanging off and that's hard to find. These shorts he wore from 6th grade thru middle school and junior high. They became his lucky fishing shorts as I threatened him if he wore them out otherwise. The fabric began to dissinigrate so bad they were unpatchable. I finally found the same thing off e-bay brand new in black. Last week in the laundry room I was floored to find them hidden. I know I threw them out. I should make him a gag gift out of them for xmas!!!
JUst to throw in-He has other pairs and no shortage of pants and shorts.

My mother always patched jeans from the inside out. Remember those boys tough jeans from Sears? I think she took a page from that book and would put patches in our play jeans before we even wore them. It made our jeans last until we out grew them.
