I'm Tired Of Dealing With Idiots!!

I guess this is just my week to have to deal with idiotic people...and Momma ain't happy. GGRR.
Little background:
November 21st...we woke up to a sinkhole in our backyard..called it in to the city. We were "assured" that sinkholes were "top priority" and that it would be taken care of immediately - Yeah, right,...tell me another one!
Afternoon of 11-21st - city workers came to fence off the area so my houseapes and the huskies could play outside without getting hurt. They get here & tell me that they weren't going to put the fence up b/c I didn't have a gate to my backyard. WTF(excuse me)? It was just 2 panels of chainlink fencing that could easily be brought through my garage to the backyard. I told the guys " I was told that sinkholes were first priority w/you guys. I was promised that it would be sectioned off to protect my kids. I don't care how you do it, but you are going to fence that sinkhole off and you are going to find a way to do it NOW".I know I was anal..but I really didn't care

.and sooo.......
3days later - they send someone out to inspect that there wasn't a break in a sewer line - there wasn't. Whoever filled in the area after some " city mandatory upgrade" sewer work this past summer hadn't filled the place in correctly...and...oh yeah..."they'll be right on it" - UH Huh...
2 days later- they send MORE guys to come and stare at the hole- "oh, yes ma'am...we'll get it taken care of"......
December 22nd (one month later) - I still hadn't heard from anyone..called & b*****d about it....FINALLY someone came to the house, took pictures & emailed it to some company in Houston...They called that afternoon & said they would send their guys out in the morning, blah blah blah.
December 23rd- WOW! they came 2 hrs early. Okay - they did a great job filling everything in..but the workers really irritated me. Their boss left for a few minutes..I walked out on the patio to find one of them sitting on his big fat a** on my kids swingset (on the glider)..actually swinging on it. I asked "What are you doing sitting on that???" ...then about 15 minutes later, I looked out the window & another worker was in a squatting position...examining my blackberry vines. WTH is going on...How UNprofessional can you get??!! So I called the contractor & complained - they sent their main local guy out here in 10 minutes...they were all embarrassed - as they should be- for the behavior of their workers. I hate living here & I'm tired of having to put up with a bunch of idiots.
Thanks for letting me vent. Rant over..I feel better

Wow - glad you got the hole filled at least right? As for the workers...good thing their boss took your word over their slacking. Imagine if you had to take pics to prove it? THEN I'd be livid.

Everyone there can't be an idiot. I mean all the idiots can't be concentrated in one area or else the rest of us would not get a chance to complain about them

Take a deep breath and relieve some of that stress. Its over now. The kids and dogs can go back outside. That's what matters most right?

Good thing you persevered. It's a shame that you have to police the workers - and it's over. The world is not full of idiots - they just stick out more!!

Sorry you had to go through this......what a pain in the butt.

I think some of those workers cousins/relatives work up here!!

Times like this is when it helps to know an attorney!

texas gets sinkholes? i knew they get them in pennsylvania, but wow?

Maybe we should all apply for jobs at our local idiot factory since they seem to be the only ones working overtime these days. I'm glad they took care of it. If you have to deal with them again I'd call the local news station. That should get some results quick.

When I read 'squatting' ... examining the vines wasn't what first came to mind as the following words...

I am glad it was fixed, sorry it took so long. My building is sinking... the whole damn building! A supporting wall was starting to buckle and it took a week of me calling to inquire, a week of me complaining and finally a call to the building inspector to get it fixed!

Yeah...I couldn't believe it either & it had grown in size too b/c of the rains that we've had..Thank God that fiasco is over with & we can enjoy Christmas

Our city has a notorious history of being on the news for neglecting their duties ....our tax dollars at work.Gr. Going to the news station was the next step that I was going to take if they didn't get the situation taken care of.

Wow!I would have freaked. Glad they fixed your building.
