Hmm...being frugal in California is almost an oxymoron, LOL.
I'll answer the questionnaire -
How did you hear about frugal village?
I'm not sure actually...I think I was Googling something and stumbled across it.
What interests you here?
I've never had a lot of money, and am currently a 'starving artist' type.
I've gone through several cycles of being frugal from necessity and/or desire to pay down debts & save money, but I've always burned out and fallen off the wagon. Giving it another shot, but this time I'm picking and choosing my frugality. Lots of great ideas here it seems!
What will you contribute?
At this point in my journey, I'm evaluating what works for me, and I have my own frugal things I do that I can suggest & offer another POV on things already suggested.

I'm late 20's, living in Southern CA (possibly the most un-frugal place in the US but it's home!) and I'm a creative freelancer with variable income. I love a challenging problem to solve

training my dog, reading, DIY projects, movies, art

Welcome to another Californian!
You are right about being frugal in CA. I always enjoy seeing how much money people in other states have paid for their homes. Real estate prices here are ridiculous! Nonetheless, being frugal is a smart way to be no matter where you live. I hope you enjoy it here!
