One couple, and I can't remember who, only got $4,000. I can't remember which one or why.

What I'd like to see on shows like this is FOLLOW UPS!
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

She claims to read (or listen to) 150 books a year, which is about one EVERY 2.5 days. I wish I had that much free time. I can only manage to fit in 2 a month, even though I finish them in 2 days.

If I could count audio-books, I could definitely be up around 100/year. I suspect she spends a lot more time on the road than I do.

I totally agree - I wasn't saying that they should be pressured or forced, I'm just saying it's hard to see people wasting money on "stuff" when if they realized on their own what a waste it was, they could be debt free or they could be donating that money to an important cause.

If they're in debt (and these people are) then they don't need to be giving *OR* wasting money, they need to be getting their own houses in order first.

Yes, I absolutely see that in this specific example. I am speaking of the larger picture - that there are millions of people throwing their $ away on junk who could either be getting themselves out of debt or, if they don't have debt, be using that money to help other causes.
