'til debt do us part' ...on CNBC
there's a really good 1/2 hr series on CNBC for those that get it called 'til debt do us part'.....
each show showcases a family deeply in debt and how they turn their lives around with a 'debt coach' (her name is VanOxlsey..sp?...something like that)....
anyway...if you get a chance and you get the channel...check it out.....

I love love love this woman. She's blunt and to the point! I'm glad this show has finally taken off in the US
Her website is a great source of info too - love her budget tracker....she has 'virtual jars' on her website. Not sure which channels she's on in Canada anymore - Slice Network, W Network, Global I think?

I just found it a few weeks ago! Great show. Really outstanding is how she informs the families how much debt they'll be in if they continue in their ways. I wish it were longer, and they would expand the family working its way through the challenges.

I love the show too! It's always amazing to me too see how far in debt people are, and how soon they can be free from it if they follow a sensible plan. Very inspiring!

They're doing marathons of it over the holidays. I believe the marathon's are repeating again for New Years, but I'm not certain.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Well, I finally caught an episode. Maybe it was a bad first one to watch, because it ended with the people STILL planning to spend $1,600 on a DOG, and with her giving them a certificate to send it to obedience training. Didn't seem like they learned much from the experience.

I love that show! They show it here all of the time and I make DH watch it with me. It's fantastic. She's gotten a hold of some real comical couples who end up throwing small tantrums to get their way, but she holds them steady.
It's on regularly here on W Network, I think... or was it Slice? Either way, we get to watch it quite often.
There's another show on HGTV that sort of does the same thing, except it has to do with affording home renovations and fixing their finances at the same time.Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

There is one on that I really like. It's called The Bank of Mom and Dad. It's on SoapNet. It shows people deeply in debt and then brings in their frugal parents to live with them and help them get on track again along with a money coach. Alot of them are young, single people that mom and dad are still spoiling rotten(paying their rent, sharing a credit card, etc.).
