That's a great idea! I had done something similar.

I only wear hook earrings or slide in earrings, no studs. I found an old wooden 5x7 unfinished wooden picture frame, painted and sealed in the colour and hot glued a piece of window screening to it that I recycled from an old window. Of course I washed the screening in hot soapy water first & let it dry.

I had it leaned up against my wall off of my dresser top but a gf came over one day and commented how that'd be perfect for her collection of dangly earrings. I removed the few pairs I had and gave it to her saying this: "Sorry about the lack of wrapping but early Merry Christmas!" LOL

I did the same thing with an old picture frame, only I used plastic canvas to hold the earrings.

Now the hoop and doily has much more class and I will be making them for DD and her two cousins - perhaps for Valentines Day because I know that I cannot wait for next Christmas!!

Mahalo for sharing this great idea!!

I did something similar only i put cross stitch material in the wooden hoop and then glued lace around the edge. Same concept. And its cheap and you can make them to match each kid or room.

My DH made DD an earring holder using some scrap wood and screening - it came out adorable!
