When one makes their own breads, it's not as much a challenge because you don't accumulate them; but are you wanting uses for the plastic square kind, the wire twist ties, or both?

An elderly friend would use the plastic square kind as the top of a book mark and tie a long piece of ribbon to it.

I've used a wire twist tie to replace a wire to hang a picture. I also use them to bundle my herbs for drying. Link several wire ties together (like a chain) and you can bundle cords on them.

The square plastic bread tie tabs are handy for saving bits of thread, embroidery thread, yarn or string by simply wrapping them around the tab.
When I wrap up a crochetted or knitted gift for someone, I include a little plastic tab with some of the yarn wrapped around it for mending.

They are also handy for holding a dab of glue or paint for a touch-up project, instead of dirtying a saucer.

Some of the larger ones also make good scrapers for window spots or even stove spots.

They also fit into the treads of shoes and sneakers to clean them from debris after out walking near the duck-pond, LOL.

Sorry, I should have been more specific...I am referring to the colored wire bread ties.

You could probably braid them together to make the fancy charms for stem ware.

I think they would be cute wrapped around a toothpick to shape then slide the toothpick out leaving little curly decorations. I use confetti and like items to decorate a metallic tablecloth sometimes. Those would look cute on for New Years, birthdays, 4th of July...
