It's been a LONG time since I've been here!
Hi everyone!
My name is Andrea, and I am ashamed to say I had given up on my frugal lifestyle for a while. DH and I started hanging out with some old friends who are spendthrifts and it was so EASY to get sucked into keeping up with the Jones' again. I'm NOT blaming my friends (even though they don't have the $ to spend either), but it just made it seem like "fun" I guess. That's not an excuse.....it's kind of like peer pressure and we both caved (more me than my husband).
But, you know what? Spending like an idiot (although temporarily...I am now heading back towards frugality) didn't make me ANY happier or more content. Of course, spending itself was fun for a moment, but then you are stuck with the bills and the fact that you're not any closer to your goals. I really want to be debt free and not owe anything to anyone (except Uncle Sam....guess we can't get out of that one).
We're so out of shape right now in ALL areas of our lives that it's hard to know where to even begin. We're both overweight now, the house is a disaster, and our finances are in bad shape.
I was doing so horribly with the bills that DH had to take over and he now gives me an allowance each week of $20. I thought that maybe if I learned how to budget that money, that it would be a good start. For example, what if I took $5 and set it aside each week for clothing, $5 each week for our debt, and $5 for savings. That would leave me $5 for anything else I might want to save up and purchase.
I don't know....I am very discouraged right now because it seems like I have forgotten almost everything I learned here before. Anyway, it seems like I have a lot of work ahead of me, so I will get started and get BUSY instead of wallowing in the past. There's TONS for me to do and read on this site.
Thank you for listening.....
Andrea

Welcome back, Andrea. We all have weak areas in our lives, and we all have relapses. The trick is to recognize it (which you have) and move forward (which you are doing).
The nice thing about life is that it usually gives you a LOT of second chances.

Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

Thank you for the warm welcome, everyone! I feel right at home again!!!
It is a bit overwhelming to think of where I was then and where I am now, but it's kind of like living a healthy lifestyle....you take one moment and one step at a time. You don't try to do everything all at once, but you use baby steps. I have to remember that I can't run before I learn to walk, or walk before learn to crawl.
QM, thank you for the invite for the weight loss challenge! Actually, I am joining a 30-day challenge in January at the t-tapp forums for inch loss. The t-tapp exercise is GREAT for losing inches and the first prize is an all expenses paid trip to Florida to exercise with the lady who developed it (Teresa Tapp). So, after that, I may jump into the weight loss challenge....sounds like fun!
Happy New Year to everyone!!!

Welcome back, Andrea! I'm also a returning member, and I think we all have our ups and downs as life gets in the way. The most important thing is to not give up and get back on track as soon as you realize that you've gone off. Good luck to you; hope you find the help and motivation you need here at FV!
