armed with $200 cash, a log, and a mission to get thru the month
its a brand new month of a brand new year so its time for a brand new challenge in dh's & my life...
for 2010 we are going to attempt to live on $200 a month CASH for all 'variable' expenses....this includes all groceries, catfood/litter, hba's, eat outs, & other x-tras....
dh pays the 'fixed' expenses of mtg, utilites, cable, insurances, prop taxes, his allowance, funds the retirement, savings & EF accts....
his car/gas & cell phone are company...my car/gas are now incorporated into my company & cell phone/internet are already company responsibility...we have no other loans, expenses....(other than our last cc payment which monies have already been ear-marked)...
so that leaves us with just the chore of day-to-day living....we have created a log that i will be able to start with $200 at the beginning of each month and subtract any and all expenses that i encounter throughout the month....if there is any left over i can carry over the amount to the next month....
my other challenge of putting away .25 for each dollar spent still stands...which means from the x-tra monies that i receive thru my survey work and my jewelry making business i will be required to put a minimum of $50 away each month into my 'vaca & x-mas bottles'.... all x-tra will be divided into our envelopes (clothing, hair salon, b-days & special occasions)
so that is the plan...and we are excited to see how it all pans out...we think we can do it....(because in fact we practically already do)...just now we will see it in blk/white...

Good luck. I don't think the two of us could manage on $200 for food and misc expenses for a month. We'd be hungry by week three!

Absolutely no doubt in my mind. Looking forward to reading more of your entertaining descriptions. Love it. I'm betting you will have money left at the end of the year.

i think i better take the garden serious this year.... (and i cannot grow a garden to save my life)...dh thinks its hysterical... i get all excited...plant all this stuff...half doesn't come up...the other half dies...(and i do water it)... however i can grow tomatoes, green peppers, squash...so we will be eating lots of those....
(or i could just wait til dark and steal everything out of the neighbors garden...lol).....
"huh...your garden...? its all gone...? that's terrible....what do you think happened....? i tell ya...the world has gone to hell in a handbasket"....
