    Default Hello from a lurker

    Hello. I am Shannon. I live in SW Ohio and am recently married. I moved here from the Detroit area a little less than 5 years ago for a job. My husband moved here 2 years later, and we bought a house.

    Anyways, I have a good job, but my DH has had some problems with his job security. After a few layoff threats (this is 3rd time in a year), I have decided that we need to start saving even more than we do now. My family did not have much growing up (my sister had a chronic illness that really drained my parents savings), so I know how to stretch things, but I don't have a lot of savings due to paying for college on my own. With the off chance of my DH losing his job next year (depends on the budget at his job), I am really ready to clamp down.

    I don't have much debt (only our house and my student loans), but he has grad school loans and a lot of credit card debt.

    I am so glad I found this site, I am hoping to find some great information and help here. So glad there is a site like this! Thank you.
