Default Id knock someone down for a diet coke right now!

I work in the dental field so I have drank diet coke for a long time. The problem is that even diet coke in large amounts isnt good for you so I am tring to cut back. Today is day one and I am NOT doing good. Dh had the car today and I actually thought about walking in the 12 degree weather to the dollar general down the street to get one! Crazy!

Pop is a hard habit to break. Go to bed now and then you made it! Tomorrow will be easier. Good luck!

Are we going through a bit of withdrawal HM???

Are you going cold turkey? Can't you just cut in half the first week......then half again the next week?

Yeah, any soda eats up the bones.........not to mention what it does to the teeth.

I became addicted to pop when pregnant w/my now 7 year old ds. It was the only thing to help the 24 hour "morning sickness". I try to limit myself to one a day now. It's easier for me to cut down in colder weather because I love to drink hot drinks like herbal tea , cider, etc.

It's not good for you and the cost adds up and it's wasteful (all that packaging). I struggle with this addiction so much. Grr.

Sometimes it's as much the carbonation as it is the soda/pop that is the "habit". Try weaning yourself off Diet Coke by using club soda or sparkling water mixed with fruit juice as an alternative.

I had a friend who would mix a pinch of Kool-aid powder and some non-calorie sweetener into club soda to wean herself off regular Coke.

    ============================

    ALMOST 'COKE'

    2 T. sugar
    1 t. vanilla
    1/4 t. cinnamon
    1 t. bottled lime juice
    1 c. club soda

Mix well and add lots of ice. It won't look like Coke.
    ------------------------------------------

    Ginger Ale

    Syrup concentrate:
    3-1/2 c. water
4-inch long piece of ginger, peeled and chopped
    2 T. vanilla
3 t. lemon flavoring (NOT lemon juice)
1/2 t. stevia powder (or to taste)

Boil down the ginger in water for 10 minutes. Strain out ginger pieces and pour ginger juice into jar. Add vanilla and lemon flavorings and stevia. Let cool and store in refrigerator as a syrup concentrate. Add 1/8 -1/4 c. of syrup to 6-8-ounces of sparkling water and serve.

This is such a hard addiction to kick - it seems that once the diet coke gets a hold of you, it won't let go.

I totally gave up diet coke 5 days ago. Cutting down does not work for me - I have to go cold turkey.

Is it hard? - sometimes, but then I get busy with something and I don't think about it - until the next time the craving comes..... and that's just what it is - a craving.

HM - figure out what works best for you and then follow that path. We'll support you. We know that you can do it!!

    For me it's coffee...when I get up...before I go to bed...and anytime inbetween.

Good luck with the habit breaking. Could try what Grainlady said. Substitute. Fingers crossed for you.

I went from drinking 3L of Mountain Dew a day to nothing when we moved to Canada. Uncaffinated Mountain Dew is just unheard of, and I won't even touch the stuff.

I had a hard addiction to pop for a long time. We just stopped buying it and started drinking more of the other things like milk, water, etc.

I'd recommend juice but even that's hard on your teeth with all of the acidity. Good luck!
