Dh left today...
for his new duty station in Utah. Sometimes I hate the Army and the fact that we will be separated by duty again.

Hugs Jamie..I remember as it's going back 20 plus years ago when my dh was in the Marine Corp and left for over seas it was like mourning him..I would be a zombie like state for awhile then I would just deal..I'm so glad those days are over..I hope the time goes by quickly for you..

At least it's Utah and not overseas!
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Jamie, I am a Marine Mom and although that is not the same as a wife, I can understand your frustration. We are very close and share so much together.
I always found it easier to deal with my son being away by doing my best to focus on the positive and doing things for him that I knew would bring a smile to his face.
Sometimes it was a funny card I would mail, or surprise him with something that I knew he would enjoy but wouldn't expect so that he knew I was thinking of him. His 18th birthday he is at Parris Island, 19th in Iraq, 20th in New Orleans after Katrina, and 21st he was in Pakistan, and he deployed to Iraq again a week after his 22nd birthday.
I took comfort knowing that he was doing what he wanted to do and wasn't enjoying being away from the comforts of home any more than I was enjoying him being away. I also appreciated the fact that he had a steady job that he didn't need to worry about being let go from, which alot of his friends didn't have. Aside from his obviously scary deployments to Iraq, I wish that I could see as many countries as he has. On his MEU float he went to 9 countries in 7 months.
Just keep in mind that you probably will be able to visit him occasionally, and how much you will appreciate being together when his duty is over.

Sorry, I know it isn't the same but my DH travels a good 15 weeks out of the year. At first, when he's gome 2weeks I like it but it isn't long before I miss him. I hope you have a good support system like a church or friends or relatives close by.

Can you not go with him? I don't know much about military life I guess. I am sorry you will be apart. Hugs for you and thanks to him for making our country a safer place to live!
