This is rough......
I'm finding myself in the same boat with the person who was having Diet Coke withdrawls last week. I'm trying to kick my Mt. Dew addiction and man it's HARD! I just love the stuff! I'm trying to go from a 2 liter a day down to 2 16.9oz a day for now. Then I hope to kick it for good. But withdrawl is hard! I'm having headaches, the jitters(partly from the withdrawl and partly from being cooped up with two teenagers for 23 days LOL) and I am grouchy!
Here's to a whole new, slimmer, non-caffine-addicted me!S

Good luck! I had to break that addiction also...wasn't helping my reflux. I love Mt. Dew though! My Mom went to the nasty caffeine-free diet kind! Yuck! I like the real stuff, but rarely drink it now.

Oh, I'm so proud of you for trying to kick this habit!
I'll never forget a tv special that I saw years ago that was a dentist, down south somewhere, that said that Mt. Dew was actually the reason he did such great business. That people were letting their kids drink it and they were having rotted teeth by their teen years. Some people were putting it in their babies bottles! Also, another doctor from the same area was saying that he had hundreds of patients who were diabetic and that if they would just give up Mt. Dew, that one change alone would completely change their diabetic status.
So, yeah, yeah, yeah for you for trying to get this out of your life!

Good luck! It is a hard addiction to break. DS use to drink 12 cans of cola a day. It took him a while but now he might haveone can every two months. He also lost 96 pounds!

I've quit before because it really makes my IBS so much worse. But I always let myself have just ONE and then I am instantly hooked again. I need to quit NOW because my darned boss insists on selling it in MY office when I work in the summer. It's hard to stay off of it with a fridge full right behind me all day! I'm hoping if I quit now then by the end of May when he stocks the fridge I will be over it enough to stay off! I begged him last year to stock Coke products instead of Pepsi but he wouldn't listen. Then HE complained all summer about how he was buying too many diet Mt. Dews LOL.

I saw the same TV program. Apalling! The maker was initially completely denying any responsibility but eventually gave the dentist some big RV to use as a rolling office. Babies with Dew in their bottles! According to the program it is the most destructive of all the fizzy sugar drinks. Best of luck with your withdrawal--from my experience it really is best to just stop altogether,and I know that sounds scare-y but withdrawal really only works for life threatening drugs like alcohol and some narcotics. As long as you consume any of it, you are "tickeling" the craving and you will not quit. I wish you well with this very hard effort!!

You and me are in the same boat...
I was drinking up to 6 cans of coke or pepsi a day... I have done this forever... I won't drink any other soda because of the sodium benozate in these products....and the other preservatives....however coke and pepsi do not have preservatives in them... just filled with phosphoric acid that was deteroriating my teeth and my bones.. now i know how silly i sounded...3 days before the end of the new year i decided that this was the year to give up soda...I have only had one can a day for the last 11 days...and believe it or not i can aready tell..pants seem to fit a little less tight etc... so that will be my motivation...

Thank you for the well wishes. However, caffeine withdrawl is very real for me! I experience bad headaches, mood swings, etc. It's much better for me to go slow with it or the craving gets so bad that I have to have one and that just leads to more and more. Going off slowly lets it leave my system slowly and makes it easier over time.

I'm in the same boat you are. I NEED to find something that has less sugar and definately less caffeine. What can you drink that has less/no sugar and tastes good. Water is just too boring for me. I need the whole new slimmer me too. You definately have it a little harder than me. I have no kids home.
Alotofgooddeals;
I'd like to know how much you were drinking and what did you replace it with. My problem is I need to drink liquid because of health issue and if it is boring like water I don't drink as much because it doesn't taste as good.
Thanks

It will be water for me or orange Gatorade once in a while. I can't drink anything diet because artificial sweeteners make me sick to my stomach. I hate tea. When I went on the eating/exercise plan 4 years ago and lost weight I drank 3 liters of water a day. I practically floated LOL!
Have you tried the fizzy flavored waters? Walmart used to sell them in their own brand in one liter bottles I think. I don't like them but you might! Good luck!S
