    Default Inspirational messages from friends

Recently I lost a very good friend at the age of 54. She died of cancer. She fought a long and brave battle for over 5 years. During that time, she and I had long in depth conversations about life. During one of those...I asked her, what is your best piece of advice on life? She replied..."Yesterday is gone...Tomorrow might not happen...But you have today....use it wisely" What is the best inspirational message you have ever received???

Mahalo for this thread - I am so sorry about your friend - how wonderful you had time with her.

My Dad passed away from lung cancer when I was 18. He would not give any advice or last wishes. When his dad passed away he (my dad) was only 13. His dad made him promise to take care of the family. That promise weighed heavy on my dad for the rest of his life. He quit school at 13, went into the coal mines and supported the family until he joined the service. So my Dad said he didn't want his last words to impose a burden on anyone.

But, that being said, my Dad was an inspiration without having to say any thing. I look back on his life for guidance in my own. He was the kind of person who would help anyone. He was a good steady provider. He was a loving husband and father. I was lucky to have him in my life.

My condolences on the loss of your friend. I am generally the one passing on inspirational pieces of advice to those around me in times of despair.

But, when my youngest/child son was in a life changing car accident my sister gave me a frame with the last picture she had taken of him before the accident in it. She gave it to me when he was still in a deep coma and wasn't expected to live. The frame & picture are both very special to me to this day. On the outside of the frame it says, "Family is the essence that helps define our very identity, devotion, crying, sharing, warmth, love, belonging, laughter, smiles, caring, memories. Family means believing, loving and supporting each other."

After my mom died, I put this saying in the bottom of a picture frame that holds a picture of my dad & her, "Faith is believing that God knows what he is doing."

My dad died when I was 13 years old. This was a newspaper clipping that he carried around in his wallet, and now I carry it in mine....

My father passed away from cancer. One of the things that he always told me was that his illness was not caused by God, or as a result of God turning away from him. He always said that his illness was the result of sinful mankind, and the wicked one.I understood what he meant, and it has allowed me to be happy, hopeful, and positive- even in the face of terrible times.I don't have to blame, to demand explanations, or to fear death.I grieve , but not like those who have no hope.I live in the now, plan for the future, hope for the best. And I will have time.

"Money, if it does not bring you happiness, will at least help you be miserable in comfort."~~Helen Gurley Brown

    "Can't never did anything."~~~~Dad
