    Question Name one bad habit...

Name one bad habit you have that you wish you didn't have or wouldn't have started knowing what you know now.

For me, it's smoking. I have smoked since I was 17 and although I did manage to quit once for over 2 years, I am still smoking now. I enjoy smoking, even though it's expensive ($59.00 a carton), I still do it. Obviously, if I could go back and choose not to smoke I would since we all know that putting any type of smoke into our lungs can't possibly be good for us.

I don't plan on quitting any time soon and I'm not looking for ways to quit either. Just wondering who else has bad habits they wish they didn't start.

Biting my nails! My nails are embarrassingly bitten to the quick. I have been able to stop for brief periods in the past, but it's one of those things I don't even realize I'm doing half the time. It seems to be much worse when I'm reading, but still can't stop (either one).

Mine is also smoking. I'm pretty much in the same boat that you are. I still enjoy it, to an extent (although I don't enjoy the stigma that surrounds it nowadays). I do tell myself that I will quit when I decide to have a child, b/c I remember growing up with a mother that smoked and I HATED it. I just wish I had never started.

I love a glass or two of wine, I had to break myself of the habit (still working on it). I had to start meds for anxiety so thats a good incentive for me not to drink. I did smoke for 2 years but I quit now to get DH to quit...

    Nail biting.
And kicking kittens. But the latter is just so fun!!!
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Stress Shopping! It runs in my family, whenever anyone is stressed we shop it away. Unfortunately, for some it leads to some financial problems.

I myself hit some pretty big credit card bills when I was 18, but that is long past. Now, if I don't have cash I don't buy except for a very few slips about 2 years ago.

I am dealing with it by staying out of the malls and jewelry stores and concentrating on something that I hate there and shopping other places, like the dollar tree, grocery store and thrift shops. It was a stressful day yesterday and I went to the dollar tree and spent $6.17 and to the grocery store and spent about $8.00 at one time I would have spent at least $500 for yesterday's stress level.

The only other bad habit I have (modesty aside) is eating. I love food. If I have a full belly or not when I go into a grocery store I want it all. Doesn’t matter if my cabinets and fridge are packed I still want more. Junk food, steaks, cheese, sandwich meats, frozen things, fresh things, fruits, vegetables, candy etc.

I am working on this, but still have issues. I went Sunday to get Chicken breasts (bone-in, skin on) for $.79/lb and got 5 lbs of chicken, Nilla wafers, banana’s, fresh jug of milk, pudding mix and donuts that were marked down.

I think I am going to start doing the envelope system for my food. Everything else I can easily stay on budget with.

I don't bit my nails, but I pick at the skin around them and my fingers look disgusting I wish I could stop.

I also wish I had never started drinking pop. I will blame a lot of this on my parents though. It was readily accessible for as long as I can remember and I can never remember sitting down to a meal with milk or water. I have cut WAY back though. I used to be able to consume a 12 pack in two days by myself. Now I drink 2 or so aday.

This is so me ~ I find it affects almost everything else in my life. It makes me nuts but I'll worry about it tomorrow!

Unfortunately, I passed it on to my DS who is much worse than I am. DD went totally the other way and she is always busy doing something, well organized, everything I'm not

candy.... i have to have candy.... (and not chocolate...i hate chocolate...i know, weird)...

the candy that is 'pure' sugar.... and then the terrible addiction of not being able to eat just one... give me a bag...(any size bag) and i will eat the entire thing within a 12 hr period...(i say 12-coz the rest of the time i am either sleeping, showering, eating real food, etc...) otherwise i would be eating candy then too...

i have gone as long as 3 months without-- trying to kick the habit...but i always go back to the 'dark side'....ugh...

i too have to blame my parents...well my dad... growing up he kept an entire drawer (drawer that was supposed to be holding file folders) FULL of every kind of imagineable candy a kid could want...and peanuts too...in his office...and it was open season for us kids anytime we wanted any..... thanks dad!

well today is the 1st day that I am honestly trying to stop smoking. Got a call from my Dr yesterday that there are abnormal cells that showed up on my last pap and they are doing a biopsy tomorrow.
One of the top links to cervical cancer if you already have high risk abnormalities (aka, me) is smoking.
So...wake up call received. I'm done.

Wearing pretty panties on my head???

Seriously it would be drinking so much Mt. Dew and overeating. I too am a stress eater and when I've had a bad day I eat everything in sight and suck down the Dew.

I have a bad sweet tooth. I never had a problem with weight until I hit 30 and now that sugar craving is a major issue.

For all you smokers... have you ever seen the electronic cigarettes? They are a nicotine deliver system. The cigarette is an electronic thing that charges like a phone. You buy juice for them and smoke them like a cigarette, but here is no smoke, just vapor. They have the nicotine, but no smoke, tar ... My friend has one and loves it... he even "smokes" at his desk at work. The juice comes in lots of different flavors... sorry to sound like an infomercial.

Smoking but I now smoke only 8 cigarettes a day.I have to keep busy and leave them in another room to stay away from them.I'll tell myself you can smoke one at 11, if I'm busy I forget to smoke it.
