You know you are frugal when........
You hear a report on the morning news that there is going to be a shortage of cookie dough and the first thing that pops into your mind "oh those poor people. Imagine having to MAKE your own cookie dough at home for a while!"

Why on earth is there a shortage of cookie dough? How strange. But, yeah, whatever will they do?

Or you hear there is going to be a shortage of Eggo's and your first thought is "do they still make those, why would anyone buy something they could so easily make"

Nestle is going to be re-doing their factories so that they can now do something to the ingredients they use to kill salmonella so the cookie dough is safer. That means there will be a shortage for a while until they get the factories updated.
The women on the show were talking about they like to eat the dough raw and they were going to miss it and maybe people should stock up. I thought "geez you do know you can make it at home right???"S

Yup, first thing I thought of when I heard there will be a shortage of sugar was better stock up.
Cookie dough? No since I do not buy it anyway. I have been surprised when I look into other peoples refrigerators or cubbards. Always surprising to see all the processed foods.

Actually I am one of those people who buys cookie dough...2 dozen cookies freshly baked for $1.00...I buy cookie dough because my time is worth something and chocolate chips & nuts are expensive.

Good point MB!! Our time is important!!
I'm amazed when I see the packages of cookies in the cake mix section - now going for $3 for a small package -are they out of their minds!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

That's all very true. Don't get me wrong, I buy mixes and things like that at times too. I always buy cake mixes when I can get them really cheap because it saves on my time. And I have bought the cookie dough before to try it when I had coupons, but my family doesn't like the taste of them.
My post was more about the sense of panic the women on the news seemed to have and seemed to be trying to instill in everyone. They seemed to think if there was a shortage the world just couldn't have cookies(or eat raw dough)! And to be honest, I just can't imagine you getting in a panic if there was a shortage.
I didn't mean to offend anyone, sorry!S

If you've already heard this story, sorry, but it fits this thread perfectly.
My sister Shirley DOES NOT COOK. She was at my house, and specifically in my walk in pantry, which is full. She looks around for a minute or two, completely befuddled and finally says,"How can you cook in here? There's nothing but ingredients!"

MaryC-If you write a book,I will buy it. O man. This reminds me of when I was younger. I used to work for a caterer. We would do private parties. These ladies could hardly tell you where the kitch was let alone what was in it. And heaven for bid you ask if they have a kitchen gadget. They all ran in circles like I said I needed a scalpel or the strawberries would die.

You would be suprised at how many people can't cook with out a mix of anything. It gets more and more all the time.

Brat- thats what my DD says.
You know your frugal when: EVeryone is complaining about how much groceries are going up and you haven't a clue what they mean. (cause you have an awsome pantry)
You know your a good shopper when people at the grocery store stop what their doing to watch for you total. Happened at meijer. The lady said: She must use coupons. (in an expression like i made the sky part)lol.

Wow, it's that cheap? I hardly make choc. chip cookies anymore because the chocolate chips are so expensive. I should keep an eye on the refrigerated dough, it might be worth buying sometimes.
The storemade cookies are insane. I was going to buy some during the holidays when my inlaws were coming because I couldn't bake in my broken oven. Couldn't make myself do it, I think they were $7. Luckily my wonderful MIL baked before they left and brought it with them.

You know you are frugal when........
I give the son, the old motor from the furnace and it puts a grin on his face because he will use it for scrapping metal for some extra money. I asked the hubby what his plans were for it,and he said the trash pile. Okay, I said, the son can have it.
Oh, and if I saw anyone pouting in the supermarket aisle because there was no cookie dough on the shelf....I would have to walk the other direction real fast. I'd be laughing.--------My signature--------

Put the frog in pot, turn up the heat real slow, and the frog doesn't hop out. And by the time he realizes, he should , it's too late... think about it.
