Chantix - Anyone here used it?
I quit smoking in September, not sure for how long, but
know I was smoking again at Christmas.
I want to quit again. I have heard some interesting
discussions on Chantix. (I quit with patches last time)
Is there anyone here who has quit using Chantix? If so, I
would really like to know what you liked/didn't like about it.
Thanks! You have succeeded in life when all you really want is only what you really need.

I personally have never smoked, but I do have a good friend who quit smoking a couple of years ago by using Chantix. She said that it helped tremendously and she had tried everything else beforehand to no avail. I know it has quite a few side-effects (although the only one she mentioned suffering was some nausea) , so I would talk to your doctor before trying it. Good luck!

For those that don't know. alot of health departments helps with patches and chantix. Free or very low fee. You might want to check it out.

I used chantix. It did work during the time I was taking the medication. The medication also affected my sleep. Meaning I was sleeping less. Once off the medication I went through a month of needing to eat sunflower seeds continuously for a month. Which I did to avoid going back to smoking.
There are lots of side effects associated with the medication. I used the medication when it first came out. Personally if the patch worked for you I would use that again since the side effects do not seem so severe.
It will be three years in May that I will be smoke free. Sometimes out of the blue I will crave a cigarette. Fortunately it passes just as quickly.
There is a website called quitnet that I used while on Chantix. You might want to use it as additional support while quitting.

I used it 3 years ago..I had some trouble with sleep but most of it was the stomach trouble..I only took it for 6 weeks. I have had a lot of stomach trouble ever since. I have not wanted to go back to smokeing because of the pain in my stomach. I had smoked for 40+years and had tryed several things to quite..It works but the side effects are really something to consider too.

When I quit before I used Welbutrin towards the end...couldn't get down pass that 6th cigarette. It did help and I was smoke free for over 2 years. Chantix and Welbutrin are the same type of drug...who knows might even be the same drug under 2 different names.

A friend of mine that I used to work with, took Chantix to stop smoking. She was a serious smoker for many years. Yes she stopped smoking. BUT.......
she got some serious stomach problems from using this product. We both did some online searches for chantix and stomach . A lot of problems out there
Research first before you use the product.--------My signature--------

Mombottoo, Wellbutrin is what I took for well over a year for
depression. It did not curb my smoking appetite, but I also
was not wanting to quit then.
A couple of people at work said that the chantix made them
lose their desire for a cigarette. That the pack could be
sitting there and they just didn't want one. That is what
I found to be incredibly awesome. One of them had smoked
for 40 years.
For those of you who posted about stomach problems, thank
you! I will google that specifically and read more about it.
I had read that it can cause nausea, especially if taken on an
empty stomach, but hadn't ran across it causing actual
stomach problems yet. So many long term smokers have
been able to quit with Chantix when nothing else worked or
lasted for them. I guess though it will never be known WHY
it causes lasting stomach problems for some and not others.
I've got a lot more reading to do!You have succeeded in life when all you really want is only what you really need.

A friend of ours used it and committed suicide. Be careful using it.

Again the stomach problems stay with you.
My friend used to have a iron stomach she called it. Could eat anything at any time of day. No longer true.
She had to see a specialist and get a scope down her throat to see the problem. More than once I thought she was going to pass out at work from the pain she was in. She would double right over.--------My signature--------
