Tinkerbell crazy toddler
My daughter (22 mo on the 25th) the last 2+ weeks has been Tinkerbell crazy... we have litterally worn out a Tinkerbell DVD( as in went from playing to stopping playing at the start of one chapter to no longer starting at all ) .. luckily she received Tinkerbell: The lost treasure for christmas. It isn't like she sits and watches it, but she has to have it in all the time even in another room she hears it go off and its BELL BELL !!! and screaming and crying.
Anywho, Needless to say Tinkerbell has been * cough cough * really tired and taking naps ( Since she is not 2 yet that seems to be something that is logical to her .. PHEW ) So I have been trying to dig through our movies for movies with the same action and color level to peak her interest. Any ideas?
She really likes Madigascar ( she likes to move it move it *l*), Madigascar 2, Merry Madigascar, Penguins of madigascar ( which she determinedly calls ducks .. *sighs*), Monsters VS Aliens, Fraggle Rock. She likes Mickey mouse club house, Little Einsteins, Handy Manny, a Dinosaur Puppet Show ( either from PBS or one of the christian channels .. its really sweet and every episode has a moral like the old toons used too when i was growing up). She is not much interested in Finding Nemo, the Secrets of Nihm. She didn't care for Up ( i cried my eyes out most of the movie ), or Surf's Up.
She is really into up beat music of any kind and she gets to shaking a tail feather *lol*.. rhyming kids muic, jazz, rock, rap, country, if its got a beat she is bouncing bobing or taping to it...

Not sure about newer movies as my Granddaughter is nine now
and I am watching princess movies, Barbie and Hannah Montana kinds of things.
However, when she was much younger, she was addicted to
"Shrek". We probably watched it at least five times every
time she came over on the weekend. I would call and she
would come to the phone. I would ask her if she wanted
to come to Grandma's house this weekend, and she would
yell, "SHREK!!!!" She may not be old enough for it, but I
know my Granddaughter wasn't very old when she went
through that Shrek thing....lol
Since she likes music so much, maybe she would be happy
with the Tinkerbell soundtrack CD since she doesn't always
watch the movie even when it is playing.Last edited by Surilda; 01-17-2010 at 11:52 PM. Reason: added sentence

With the Diva, it was the WIGGLES !!!
Blockbuster had a summer program where kids videos were $1... well, we basically kept renting it because they weren't sold anywhere. The manager finally said we could have it for the $5 'lost' fee.
Disney has 'Sing Along' videos. It's music and it's fun... you may want to try those.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

Ian is the same way with Olivia. He loves that show and is always wanting "Olia Olia". He's old enough now that he can kind of understand now when I tell him it's not on (he's 2). He goes through different stages where he is persistant about different things. I'm sure she'll outgrow it and before you know it she'll be crazy about another cartoon.

What a great thread!! I read it first because I have an adult friend (in her 40's) who is also crazy about Tinkerbell!!
Loved picturing your DD moving and loving all the music - so much fun and so good for both of you!!
Don't have any suggestions, just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your post!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

I was going to suggest the Disney Sing-A-Longs too, but someone beat me to it. I have boys and they liked those and Barney, Spot, Thomas the Tank Engine, Winnie-the-Pooh, Sesame Street, the Wiggles, Teletubbies, etc. at that age.

My dd is a big Tinkerbell fan (she's 8) however, at around 5, she started branching out into the Barbie movies. Not the ones like "The Barbie Diaries" but the ones like "The Princess and the Pauper" or "The Twelve Dancing Princesses." Great stories, great music. One of my favorite cd's is still "The Princess and the Pauper."

Yeah my 2 year old grandson is in BLUES and ELMO stage. He wants them on while he is playing. He will stop and watch a quick clip then move on.

Thank you guys... I really wish PBS would come out with dvd's of their programing .. seems they are always an arm and a leg when they do. .I was shocked to see the science kid at walmart today ( i am thinking that will be a good Bday present since everytime we have caught the program she has been transfixed to the tv.. we caught the episode about the wind)... i resisted the urge to buy it expecially since it seems when you see something at our walmart once the next time its GONE and they never get it back in.. however i did replace tinkerbell and i happened to see a movie i hope she will like Beverly Hills Chauawahs( which i can not spell the breed to save my life ) .. she had to get a chauaha calender when i let her choose my 2010 calender.. which she is always having me flip though so she can look at the puppies... every morning she points at it and goes AGAIN *lol* .. so I have hope .. although tonight when she had the choice she went for Bell.
Thank you all for the suggestions... it is really interesting what kids get fixated on isnt it.

When my oldest was that age she would jump out of bed at 5am every morning and watch the Chipmunks Christmas.
There really is no greater torture than that.

mauimagic~ Oh her dancing to music can be a curse ... when she was younger I had taken her to the grocery store with me and there were a group of people playing rap and talking outside of the store. Needless to say she started shaking her butt and dancing .. I was pretty quick to get her into the store, because people can be funny about those things thinking that she is making fun when she doesn't understand.
She has done that on several occations since she was a wee baby ( including once where she started bobing her head and then started doing the shoulder shrug thing and then dusted her shoulders off all of this from in her stroller) .. she just likes music and she sees people dance and she immediately imitates. We ( my mom and I ) both listen to a broad range of music and definately don't stand still to it. She has also watched VH1 where she has picked up the bottom shaking and shoulder dusting because i have yet to see my mom do the shoulder dust off .. although that would be HALARIOUS hehehe.. in my lifetime i have seen her do the bottom shaking still jelious of that because for the life of me i can't do it.
